Didn't bring a GPS so i don't know about the distance but looking at the winner's route i think i went just a bit further than craig. (Oh now i have edited it with Juffy's clever routegadget calculator and it was even further than i thought!) Poor route choice, especially in the second half, and i wasn't running that well (maybe not running for two or three weeks made a difference?) but plodded along and got there in the end! Good course.

Run (boot camp) 40:00 [2] 4.0 km (10:00 / km) shoes: Brooks trail shoes
Lunchtime run in the sunshine with Dr Lynn and Pete the Physio. This was the inaugural HSA Boot Camp. But it seemed a bit silly with only three of us so we jogged to the causeway and back with some cursory situps and stuff. Maybe next time 25 previously hidden keen exercisers will turn up. Haha.

Stonking head wind but i got angry at some roadie (he was standing up on all the hills, even the tiny undulations in the railway bike path, and i think that is soft) so i rode away hard. And then found i was quite enjoying it so i kept riding hard, right until i hit hale road at which point i deflated.

Noone else turned up for fartlek tonight. I tried to do it properly but running into the wind there was very little difference between my sprint and recovery pace! Really windy tonight.
Usual stuff. a few people tonight although jess and wil were both not running due to injury. Hilarity tried to join in but was foiled by the antics of Mr Danger and his Fantastic Voyages. I was quite worried but having heard that he is ok i am now just waiting with interest to read his story!

Today was meant to be get-back-into-training day. But i slept awfully again, and really really struggled. Got passed by (don't laugh) a GIRL on a HYBRID with FLAT PEDALS on the way to work. Had a most unmotivated day, struggled to walk up stairs and had my slowest EVER commute on the way home. I planned two runs today and downgraded them to a sleep-in and one run. Then to a sleep-in and a nap, and a beer and an early night. Coach says i am allowed to be tired but he is sooo energetic despite being sore and injured and old that i am not convinced. Just a bit grumpy too. I will save myself for a brilliant comeback at the beach on friday.
I started out this morning thinking, oh, i wish i was running this arvo! But no. I don't wish i ran at all. Not sore, just really really tired. Partly due to finishing work at 11.45 last night but also my legs are empty. Rode to work. Complained all day and even had a half hour nap on an examination couch at lunch time! Then rode to another undisclosed (and really, really good!) sprint map to do some more heavy negotiations. Sounds like things may fall into place. Said they would let us use the grounds so long as that dodgy man in the thongs and the fishnet shorts doesn't start hanging around and scaring people ;)
On the way home i did a 4km detour to avoid having to ride up a hill, then realised the hill was unavoidable and rode the 4km back the other way. Then realised there is no way to go home without a hill so i dropped in at my parents', invited myself for dinner then invited john too. and his car.
A lot of effort involved in avoiding that hill...
I'm not going to log a half-hour walk with the dog (because i spent 25min of it sitting down while he ran up and down, and i had a good, supportive, loving chuckle at john trying to throw the ball left-handed)
