To kings park, 3x figure 8's then had breaky with grandma and rode home. She challenged me to do another lap of the park in the time it took her to walk from zamia to winthrop ave. It was a close one but i managed the win without having to run her over.

Made up a short course at Langford Park and did some route choice practice. Lesson for the day is, it is rarely quicker to ride single track unless it is very significantly shorter. This applies to championship races only, because if you don't need to win then the extra fun is always worth the slower time. Had a play on some of the better trails out the back, practicing my route choice down the downhills.

Met up with the ambos plus Ngaire and Robin for a night ride. We did a lap of the 12h track first, which took 1h40min! 42min ride time. It became an interval session, riding hard hard for 3min to keep up with cris who was on a mission, then stopping for 5 to wait for the slowies. Namely Scotto, who forgot his helmet light so could only see in straight lines (great for single track) and some other guy who was really unfit. Ngaire rode excellently for a first night ride, and smiled the whole time. Good fun.

The others went off on the short loop and i did a longer and much more solid ride with Cris and Pete, skipping most of the 12h loop (which is quite boring) and did all the fun technical bits from the old days. Some bits were quite deep in honky nuts which was interesting- sort of like riding through the ball pit at ikea. Teeth-clenching stuff keeping up with those two on the downhills- lucky i have the new lights. And luckily did not break anything, John would probably not be impressed (and neither would my dad, who is our reserve for the keen race).
