Biking 43:00 [3]

Biking in place before my sister's bridal shower!

Hiking 1:00:00 [3] 4.5 mi (13:20 / mi)

Scavenger hunt around Ithaca with Sam, Clare, Owen, and Presto! I can't say this was as fun as Rex's events, but it was a good way to explore the city. We did get to see a stop on the Underground Railroad, which was super cool. The trustee of the church happened to be there when we got there, so he gave us a free tour, too. Otherwise, just a nice excuse to get a better feel for downtown.

Running 1:00 [3]

Quick moment of running back to check out the Ithaca City Cemetery map to find the location of the firefighter's memorial for the answer to one of the questions. No pain again!!

Strength 5:00 [3]

Normal abs.

Running 1:00 [3]

Running(!!) with Presto in the snow(?)! I was just taking Presto for his normal walk, but my ankle has been feeling pretty good, so I thought, maybe I'll see how running goes. I was wearing jeans and stuff because I hadn't planned to go running, so everything was a little weird BUT running felt fine!

I ran for about 30s before Presto starting freaking out about something in his ear. Luckily, he is a very good boy, and he let me pull this 1cm long, 0.5cm diameter object (earwax???) out of his ear. He seemed much happier after that, and I can't say I blame him. Hopefully he'll be able to hear better now!

We then ran for another 30s, and I decided I'd just wait and see how that felt. Still feels good writing this the next day, so maybe I'll run a little further next time!

Oh, also, in true northeast fashion it was wintry mixing while we were on this walk like in the old saying "April wintry mix brings May flowers." That's how it goes, right?

Biking 43:00 [3]

Biking in place! And then for some biking in place to actually get some exercise.

Biking 43:00 [3]

Biking in place! Wow. The COVID shot really knocked me out - muscle aches, head ache, chills, fever, slight nausea... I can't imagine how bad actual COVID would be.

Thank you to all the scientists that have been working for the past 20-odd years to make mRNA vaccines a reality! I already knew that I absolutely do not want to get COVID, but this experience just highlighted that for me.

I was feeling about 80% today, and I figured getting the blood moving might knock out the last of the muscle aches, so I did some biking in place. Definitely more tiring than usual, but it felt good to sweat for non-fever reasons for a bit.

Biking 1:40:00 [3] 15.8 mi (6:20 / mi) +460m 5:48 / mi

Biking up Mt. Pleasant! It was raining but not too cold today (upper-50s/lower-60s), so I decided to do the same loop as last week. I kept it pretty slow on the downhills because breaking in the wet wasn't working as well as I might have liked, but it was still super fun to be out. I also got to see a delightful number of newts slowly, slowly crossing the road. There was a bit more traffic than last week, and the rural NY drivers' pass bikes closer than would be ideal. I also got a bit cold on the way back, which is mostly flat/downhill, but overall it was great to get out!

Stretching 10:00 [3]

Normal stretching after some dry clothes and warm food.
