10c shoes: Brooks Running 14

Trailcross at Shadow Cliffs (sort of) with Presto! These are always super fun and this one did not disappoint :-). The only issue was with a bit of Presto drama. At the beginning, Sam, Presto, and I were all running pretty much together and everything was fine, but Sam is a bit faster than I am, and he started pulling ahead. Presto clearly decided that running a bit faster would be more fun, so off he went. This would have been fine except that I was only pretty confident that Presto was with Sam, not 100% confident, so I started coming into all the controls backwards to try to catch Sam on the way out. Unfortunately, this kind of backfired because apparently Sam and I do not have similar ideas on the correct exit to controls :-). Alls well that ends well, though. I finally saw Sam and Presto at leaving control 9 while I was leaving 8 (which was on the top of a hill), so I was able to swoop in and intersect them between 9 and 10, get Presto on a leash, and continue back towards 9. Still a super fun day, and we even got some fill-your-own donuts afterward! Yum!

Running with Sam and Presto after lab! I'm starting to feel more like my normal self. This was still a bit more difficult than it should have been, but I was able to chat the entire time, which means I had both enough air and enough voice :-), so I think I'm finally starting to throw this cold. Presto was quite pleased with the run, although seemed unexcited by the family of stationary deer.

Running with Presto after lab! I'm definitely feeling better than the weekend, but still getting way more fatigued than usual plus all the usual cold symptoms. I was also doing a brand new protocol at work today, and that's always a bit stressful and exhausting, so I was quite tired starting out, but it was really nice to get a chance to be outside while the sun was still up (go daylight savings time!).

Warming up after working a much calmer start shift. Definitely still sick. I basically warmed up until I started wheezing, and confirmed that I appear to be missing the top gear or two today.

Red Sprint at Mill College! Well, I can't say this was really a "sprint" for me but it was lots of fun. I lost a bit of time to constant checking of out-of-bounds areas, which didn't seem intuitive to me, and then quite a bit of time when I didn't see the control behind a bush at number 8, but mainly I just couldn't run very quickly or breath very well. It was a super fun course, though, so it was good to get a chance to run it!
