Stretching 30:00 [3]

Monday yoga! More stretching than usual. We also spent more time than usual touching our toes, which gave me a good view of my two ankles. Gimpyfoot ankle (left) is quite visibly swollen, and perhaps more disturbingly, there seems to be a lump in front of the outside ankle bone that sticks out sort of ominously when I point my toe. I'm assuming this is all related to the plantar fasciitis, but I don't know why I'd have a lump on my ankle. I'm guessing running two days in a row wasn't very good for it...

The strength part.

Sprint at SF State University! Another super fun race! After spending what seemed like FOREVER but was probably around 5-7 seconds not being able to find the start on the map, this was a pretty good race for me aside from one big mistake at 7. I was sure I knew where the control was (on top of a bridge) but saw the person in front of me run to the location, not punch, and then begin running under the bridge, so I was like, oh I guess the control's under the bridge. It turns out he just hadn't seen the control when he ran across the bridge, so we both ended back up on top of the bridge in the end. Teaches me to pay attention to the people around me! There were a few other times I just didn't see the control right away (but managed not to send myself off on a wild goose chase). At some point SGB+Presto and I were racing each other again, which was awesome fun!

Red Middle at Golden Gate Park! This was awesome fun! I had a bit of trouble getting into the map. I think part of this was that I'm pretty sure the first control was misplaced, but I didn't realize it at the time because I randomly stumbled upon it on my way to the correct location. I was super surprised to see it there and almost didn't check the code and then felt relieved that I found it since I figured that I must be quite confused about where I was. This then lead to some trouble getting to 2, after which I decided that I couldn't trust the trails, which made navigating a bit difficult. After another 5 or 6 controls I started gaining confidence and my feet and hands denumbed and things were much improved :-). I had little bobbles here and there throughout, particularly on controls on vegetation boundaries, but overall it was just a ton of fun (particularly at the end when SGB+Presto and I were neck and neck)!

Stretching 5:00 [3]

I had to run off to a concert immediately after the race, which meant that stretching was delayed until about 10pm, but I managed to fit it in before sleeping!

Corridor/Window-O at UC Berkeley! We had a good-sized group at BAOC training tonight for a really fun exercise where most of the map was whited out. One of the controls got me, but in general this was nice and clean for me. My hamstrings and hip flexers were tired from yesterday and my heel didn't feel perfect, but it was lots of fun to be out and about. Presto was super excited to be out and to be wearing a jacket! (It was actually chilly!) I think he's missed his jackets :-).
