Running 8:00 [3] 1.2 km (6:40 / km)
shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Jogging to the start with Presto and a very friendly guy with a very tenuous grasp on Eastern European geography. (He called Estonia "that stone place" :-).)

Orienteering 1:34:36 [3] *** 6.2 km (15:15 / km)
18c shoes: Mizuno Ascend

Red Day 1 at the Boulder Dash with Presto! What a fun course! After some brief confusion immediately out of the start (very brief - part of this was figuring out what a marsh looked like in real life on this map), I navigated one of the cleanest races I've run in a while. It wasn't very fast, but it was so incredibly pleasant to look in front of me, see a feature, think, my control will be behind that, run to the other side and voila! control! I made one significant mistake, but it wasn't even really a navigation error. It was just me being an idiot. I got to number 10, which was supposed to be in a dry depression. I looked into the depression, which was completely full of water, didn't see the control, decided I must be at a nearby marsh because my depression was supposed to be dry, and headed off to find the control. Unsurprisingly I could not make the map add up, and after a few minutes of wandering, relocated and came back to the same depression/pond I'd been at before. Luckily I did see the flag this time. I was feeling quite grumbly on the way to 11 about loosing 8-9 minutes on stupidity, but then Presto turned around with a big doggy grin and I thought, you're right Presto, we are having a good time!

Biking 5:00 [3] 1.5 mi (3:20 / mi)

Biking at PT. I gleefully put the seat at a normal height today while no one was looking :-).

Strength 20:00 [3]

I get the impression this PT just does random things with me to use the various things around the room. Thankfully this week should not result in the same level of soreness as last week! I did a could minutes of slidey things, dip things, leg presses with pointed toes (ouch!), squats with pointed toes, backwards walking, and toe raises. Strangely after not telling me to do anything related to the gym, the PT asked if I'd been going to the gym. Um, no? Presto can't go to the gym... (I didn't tell her that :-).)

She also (sort of arbitrarily) decided that I could benefit from an ankle brace that even though it is a side-to-side motion stopper, will supposedly reduce the impact of running? I am skeptical.

Running 5:00 [3] 0.71 mi (7:00 / mi)

Running on the treadmill with the brace. Strangely it makes my ankle work a lot more, possibly because it's harder to move my foot up and down? Not really sure. I'll try it on a couple of river runs, but I'm not convinced.

Running 28:10 [3] 3.1 mi (9:05 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 5

Easy run after lab with Presto and the new ankle brace. I'm not sure if it really changed anything, but at least it wasn't bad to run with. I'm not sure I'd like doing runs much longer than this in it though because it pushes on my shin in a bruisy sort of way. Maybe I'd get used to it. We saw two rabbits tonight to Presto's delight, and one of them even ran with us for a little while, which was fun for Presto but probably not so much for the rabbit. We also saw one of my classmates who I haven't seen in over 2 years. Lately my runs have been full of seeing random people :-).

Strength 5:00 [3]

Abs.

Stretching 5:00 [3]

Nice and stretchy.

Running 28:29 [3] 3.1 mi (9:11 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Running 5

Easy run after lab with SGB and Presto. Presto was SOOO excited to be out, and we got to see one rabbit :-). I didn't quite realize how tired I was until I realized how slowly we were going (although I blame some of that on my automatic cadence matching skills and significantly shorter legs...), but it was good to just get out with SGB and not be in lab or working on a presentation.

Stretching 5:00 [3]

Sleepily.
