Red at the Fall Foliage Festival. This felt a lot like the final from yesterday. With a couple of exceptions, I navigated reasonably well to the circle and then just spent a while wandering around looking for it. In a particularly stupid situation (number 4), I saw my boulder and knew it was my boulder, but was watching 5 or 6 people punch at a boulder a little ways away and although I did stop myself from actually checking the other boulder, I slowed WAY down instead of just running to the boulder I knew to be mine. In another moment of extreme stupidity, I left number 5 and planned a route to number 6, got about halfway to number 6 and for some reason decided I was actually going to number 10. I wondered briefly why I had planned the route I had because obviously going on the other side of the marsh would have been better, but whatever, this would work, too. I spiked number 10 beautifully...and then sort of wondered how I had so little memory of 6-9...and then realized I was in fact supposed to be going to 6. Grumble. It didn't take me that far out of my way, but definitely slowed things down.

The most amusing part of the course was in the finish chute. Presto was hanging out with Brendan at the finish and when I started to come in, Ross decided to try to get Presto to run in with me. At first Presto couldn't figure out what was going on. Then he saw me and came tearing down the finish chute towards me, and expected me to stop right then and there and play with him. Glad to see you, too Presto, but we need to keep moving forward :-). It cost me a second or two, but it was totally worth it :-).
