Event: Boilermaker

Running race 1:02:28 [4] 15.0 km (4:10 / km)

Boilermaker 15k - pretty decent run all things considering. Ankle was feeling mostly back to normal and I had an unintended taper before the race. I've done this race like 7 or 8 times but it's been like 13 years since the last one. I took it easy out of the start and stuck to my pace really well for the first 3 miles (aiming for 6:40). The hills were hard (7:11 uphill) and a lot more downhill than I remember (clocked a 6:11). The last mile was out in the sun and my right leg was feeling a bit crampy so I was falling off pace.

Timewise this was still solid vdot 51. Not near my best of 57 minutes, but also not terrible for the first long road race in a while. Looks good for a sub 3:10 marathon, but not sure if I'll see much more improvement time wise. Feels like I've plateaued here.

Note

Ran with Andy in the National Kids Race in Utica. She did the 1/4 mile race. There were so many people and we were several rows from the starting line. Every time she had an opening she hammered it. Just like mama :)

Running 33:15 [1] 3.28 mi (10:08 / mi)

Feeling crazy tired - HR running in the 50s/60s while sitting around at work. I'm thinking the weekend was just so busy it wore me out. Decided to go for an easy run, but then totally twisted ankle on nothing. Big crack sound and lots of adrenaline spike.

Rowing 43:15 [1] 4.58 km (9:26 / km)

Finally got out the rowing shells for the year, except one of the oar locks was bent. I went out on my own for a bit in the bay and the switched with Graham. Then spent the rest of the day riding bikes in the parade, swimming, and then at a fireworks party. Not great training consistency but fun weekend.
