Bowling 5 [1]
(sick) shoes: Dexter Ricky II Bowling

Today's training featured better consistency and a higher spare conversion rate than is typical, but my strike percentage was lower. Three of my games had seven marks, though the other two had only four and two respectively. Game 4 was especially promising, with 114 after five frames. I couldn't hold on, and marked only two of the last five for a miserable 53 points. Two of my spares followed gutterballs, so my results were arguably 11 strikes and 16 spares.

Game 1: X 5/ 61 5/ 9/ X -/ 72 8/ 8- = 154
Game 2: 8/ X 9/ 5/ 3/ 71 32 8- 9/ X71 = 144
Game 3: 61 6- X 6- 44 9/ 9/ 7- 9/ 33 = 105
Game 4: X X X 9/ 7/ 81 72 7/ -6 -/9 = 167
Game 5: 8- 81 36 7- X 51 6/ 72 36 5- = 95

Strike percentage: 9/52 = 17.3%
Spare conversion: 18/42 = 42.9%
First ball pins: 6.8
9-pin spares: 7/7 = 100% :D

The week of rest for my left ankle has been very helpful, though it is still uncomfortable at times. While I am eager to train, this season is already lost to me, and recovering fully is more important to me than rushing back into running.

Note
(sick)

Infected bursitis in the left elbow. Yay Bactrim. The ER doctor prescribed me 600 mg ibuprofen for the pain, though given that I didn't need anything for the tibia, I don't expect to use them. Seriously, though, what's the point of 600 mg pills of ibuprofen? Why couldn't I just take four OTC advils at once? This is madness!

Note

Based on a number of heuristic stress tests (e.g. jumping on one foot), the likeliest explanation for the pain in my leg is shin splints or general inflammation, possibly related to my ankle injury from late February. I mean to rest a few days, then try a few miles of running. If the pain remains in a week, I will likely visit a doctor. The pain emerged when I ran in my racing shoes, my Nike Lunarlites, though causation is suspect, since those shoes do not have much wear on them.

Strength training 32:00 [4]

Two circuits, (45s on, 15 off): Tuckups, squats (+80), kayakers, calf raises (+80), planks (straight, both sides), curls (20 lbs), leg lifts, pushups, v-ups, standing oblique-leans, leg press, situps, hamstring curl machine, downward lat pull,

Biking (Stationary) 20:00 [1] 10.0 km (30.0 kph)

Left tibia felt ok, but left knee felt odd.

Bowling 6 [1]
shoes: Dexter Ricky II Bowling

Six games, with wildly erratic performance. I purchased basic bowling shoes, and today I set about changing my approach to four steps with a more logical ball positioning. I expected variation, but this is absurd. In Game 2, my score after 5 frames was 89 - equal to my entire third game. A lackluster three open frames finished what could have been a spectacular game.

Game 1: 8- 72 7- 7/ 9- 70 61 8/ 7- 8/7 = 107
Game 2: X X 5/ 8/ 8- X X 81 -6 72 = 160
Game 3: -5 61 81 8/ 18 3- 63 9/ 81 36 = 89
Game 4: 71 61 5/ 62 8/ 7- 6/ 63 71 63 = 105
Game 5: 7- X 8/ 8- 5/ 6- 7/ X 8/ 9/X = 154
Game 6: 9/ 81 X 62 54 X X 8- 6/ 9- = 144

Stats: 10/62 strikes = 16%
17/51 spare conversion = 33%
9-pin spares: 3/5 = 60%
Average first ball pins = 7.1
