I have a concerto performance on March 8 for which I need my embouchure to be in prime physical condition. To better motivate and track my practice, I'm going to log my horn practice with the conversion that 1 minute = 1 hour (a la Peter Gagarin).

CSU Street-O, orchestrated by Ross Smith. The course consisted of a street-O of about 8 km total length (I've already cleared my routes from google pedometer, unfortunately), and a smaller Harvard-O with much building navigation. Running the course were Pia, Lori, Ruth, Brendan, Ross, Presto, and the family of Michael Commons.
I felt pretty good, and about 6 km through the street-O, I was about 5 minutes behind Ross and 2-3 minutes behind Brendan. I started to get tired near the end of the street-O, and during the Harvard-O, my left foot started hurting. I fell on some ice coming out of control one, though without any lasting effects apart from the initial shock, and I retired after control four. My left foot has been bothering me since the last CSU training; I suspect it is a symptom of inadequate training and then excessive strain when I run the CSU events. I'll RICE it this week and try some short, low intensity sessions of perhaps 25-30 minute length to see if my foot improves. Last Saturday, it hurt to stand on my left foot exclusively, but before the Street-O today, it felt ok. I will be careful to avoid injury before the competition season starts.
