Running 42:08 [3] 7.37 km (5:43 / km)
shoes: 200712 NB Absorb EX 12

Training run, south along the irrigation channels, to Sunset, Fairway, Montoya, and Lindbergh. Felt strong throughout; 4/4 breathing and 4x30 second strides at the end. My back is a bit tight from my recent training buildup and the weights earlier in the week. I'll avoid high intensity work, excepting the mile time trials to gauge my progress.

Running 33:55 intensity: (32:25 @3) + (1:30 @5) 6.44 km (5:16 / km)
shoes: 200712 NB Absorb EX 12

I went with my mom to the CHS track for my workout. I get very bored running around a track, so I will probably run on the track solely for intervals and time trials hereafter.

Whether because of lower density air or Mexican food unsettling my digestive system, I felt unpleasant and weak throughout the run. I'm going to do some more cross training in the coming week.

Running warm up/down 12:00 [1] 0.8 km (15:00 / km)

Warm up, cool down, and stretching.

Running intervals 23:14 intensity: (9:23 @1) + (13:51 @5) 6.4 km (3:38 / km)
shoes: 200712 NB Absorb EX 12

Today, I ran intervals at my old high school track. The football field, on which I have many fond memories from band, was astroturfed in my absence.

I warmed up for 1.2 km, and ran my intervals with 200 m breaks, averaging 1:40 of rest between each interval. Today's intervals were:

400 m: 1.28.44
600 m: 2.15.31
800 m: 3.02.30
800 m: 3.10.66
600 m: 2.35.61
400 m: 1.18.73

I ran out of steam on the second 600 m interval, but gave everything I had on the last 400 (go control?). In general, I felt good throughout the training, apart from the second 600 meter interval. My arms and chest hurt a bit from yesterday's weights.

My original intent for today was a moderate length, low to medium intensity run, but my mother decided to go to the track for her workout, so I accompanied her.

Running warm up/down 11:17 [2] 1.6 km (7:03 / km)
shoes: 200712 NB Absorb EX 12

1.2 km warmup (6:40), 400 m cool down (4:37).

Strength training 20:00 [3]

Today, in lieu of a light cardiovascular activity, I did a rudimentary weight training with the equipment readily available around my house. My mom uses 10 lbs dumbells, so those were my weapon of choice. I focused on core, with some upper body work.

Running 1:01:14 [3] 11.07 km (5:32 / km)
shoes: 200712 NB Absorb EX 12

I visited my great aunt in Pennsylvania for two days, and today I finally arrived at home in Texas. The scale height of the Earth's atmosphere for sufficiently low elevation is about 7.6 km. The elevation near my run today is about 3800', which yields an air density relative to sea level of 0.85. I didn't feel any significant effects because of the elevation change, but I maintained a 3/3 breathing rate for the duration of my run. While the run was longer than I planned, I felt good throughout. My right hamstring felt a little tight at the end, but tomorrow is a light day.

Running warm up/down 10:00 [1] 0.5 km (20:00 / km)
shoes: 200712 NB Absorb EX 12

Cool down and stretching.
