Hiking 45:00 [2] 3.5 mi (12:51 / mi)

Tried running after work but my big tummy was killing me so I settled for a hike around Calhoun. Tons of people out enjoying the gorgeous weather.

Running race 15:00 [3] 1.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

With Biz out of town, I decided to grab a friend from work who is not into "fast" but likes fitness and willing to try anything and show up for the Gear Junkie Urban Challenge. When we arrived at GJ HQ, my buddy was intimidated by the mix of urban biker hipsters and adventure/triathletes. Whatever!

Leg 1 of the GearJunkie Challenge. We started off with a run down the Greenway. We jogged most of it taking a few walk breaks. It was an out-n-back so fun to see the leaders sprinting by as we trotted along.

GearJunkie Urban Challenge Leg 2 = Biking

My buddy was happy to transition to the bike. We were last out of the TA but were not concerned in the least. We talked about work and fun stuff as we made our way to Harriet where we picked up our manifest. We devised our route and hit the points without much problem. Somehow we got in front of a team for a bit but they passed us after counting the boards on the bridge on the NW side of Calhoun. It was fun spotting the leaders and other racers heading back to GJHQ for the final challenges. We ended up at VE with plenty of time before the cutoff so we had fun at the bouldering wall. When we got back to GJHQ we did the scav hunt and even tweeted a photo for our final challenge.

Great night! So much fun. Thanks to Amy and the GJ crew.
