Planned on joining my girls for gympa, but we had an out of town conference today for work, and we didn't get back to the school until 5:30. Which made making 5:30 gympa impossible. So, biked home and changed to head outside. It was cold and rainy and dark, but I was so looking forward to getting out. Headed down to the valley where it is always beautiful as the sun is setting. Thoroughly enjoyed running on both lit and unlit trails and just reveled in the joy of running. I was again reminded: I am always happiest while running. This is the feeling and the bliss that I must remember and use to get myself out the door. This is what I have been lacking. I thought perhaps it was lost forever, but maybe, hopefully, it was just hiding. I just have to coax it back out.

My night to set courses, and we had to use this little map along the river because it's moose hunting season. After running to the start, then back to the finish to put the results paper and watch, and then back to the start I ran the short course. As usual, had some bobbles and some moments of "Pay attention, Sam!" but I really enjoyed it. The ground here is actually hard and I didn't even get my feet wet! That might be a first in Sweden. Oh, and there were hills!

Tonight's training was supposed to be 2-3 2k orienteering loops, separated by a hard 1km run. It was dark, so night orienteering time! I was faffing around a lot, but at least still finding the controls around other people. And then came the last control on the loop. I attacked in... and couldn't find it. I wasn't far off, just too far to the right, but I just became so frustrated so quickly. Wandered around more, watching everyone run away and still couldn't find it. Finally really relocated and went up hill and saw it. Didn't help that they weren't reflective, but everyone else found it.
Then couldn't work up the motivation to run hard on the loop. Started the second course, going slow and carefully and walked within meters of the control without seeing it, or recognizing that was the spur. More wandering around. More frustration. Gave up, and jogged on trails to calm myself down, since my frustration was way out of proportion to the exercise. It's just been such a difficult and disappointing season of orienteering for me. I think I get set off quite easily now. I just have to make it through North Americans with a solid mental state and my confidence and energy high and then I can take a break.
Stood around at the finish point for a bit before Lisa finished. I think she could tell I was a bit miffed, so she asked me to join her for her last 1km run. I did and felt much better afterwards. That's what friends are for :)

Lisa organized us to go running before gympa. It was faster than normal running pace, but not too fast. Felt good to push a little, but still keep up conversation. We took a detour by the track to cheer the guys on in their 3k, but they were done by the time we got there. Nice to run.

Rock gympa is back again! As usual, much more fun to do this with the group than alone. The energy is great. Afterwards I skipped innebandy, as I don't like playing when there are so many people. But for my birthday Ross bought me my own innebandy club, so from now on I'm there!
