Note

So, there is a wine and cheese social at the DVOA meet. It's going to be quite cold and so you know that you will need some place to go and warm up. And the cool place is obviously where I am. Therefore, you should email Janet Porter djporter2@verizon.net as soon as possible (today would be good!). And of course, this supports the senior team!

Note

Where can I find past US Classic Champs winners in all age categories? And even past sprint, middle, long, etc champs?

So, yeah. Ross and I woke up bright and early, ate a good breakfast and set out to race. We arrived at the school and the parking lot was surprisingly empty, but we drove around back and saw two people carrying large duffel bags into the field. We figured that they were just beginning to set up. It was 45 minutes before the race. We thought that maybe trail runners don't feel the need to warm up. Then I had to go to the bathroom, so we walked to the school as the janitor was opening the doors. He asked if we were there for soccer. No, we explained, for the trail race. With a pitying look on his face, he explained that that race is tomorrow. Swell. Neither Ross or I noticed, even after looking at the webpage many times, that the race is actually on Sunday. Even this morning I read the date and thought it was interesting that it was on Halloween.

Since we were there we decided to run around on the trails anyway, and maybe even follow the race loop, if it was marked. It took us some time to find a trail head and then we saw signs sometimes, but very often we were going the wrong direction around loops. It was a beautiful run and fun to actually run with Ross. I was looking forward to the workout of a ten mile race, but just jogging for 10 miles has left my legs a bit tired. We also had shopping to do at Shoppers World and had to bring in my ring to have the stone reset, so it wasn't a wasted trip. Plus, I love running in new places and running first thing in the morning. If we hadn't gotten up for the race, we probably would have had a hard time motivating to go running around here.

lifting/strength 10:00 [1]

Core on the ball.

Ross and I signed up for a 10 mile trail race tomorrow morning. I don't do enough racing, so I think this will be good for me.

Skyline trail run. After my PR last week I wasn't sure what to do with this week. Turns out a I was a bit tired and so just couldn't bring myself to push as hard. Tight upper body the whole time which was uncomfortable.
