trail run 10:00 [2] 1.0 mi (10:00 / mi)
shoes: INOV 8 Muclaw 330 -old

Warm up for the sprint. We arrived and I casually got my packet and when I finally checked my start time, it was in 15 minutes! I rushed for a bit trying to get ready and then thought "This is silly." I figured I could get a new start time, and I would rather suffer the wrath of Janet Porter (who was working at the start) than not have the chance to warm up and go to the bathroom. In the future, maybe checking start times before arriving to the meet site would be a good idea.

Sprint at West Point. Really fun! Sent us right down onto a tricky hillside. I did quite well here for the most part - taking my time to look ahead and around me. I did have my head buried in the map on the way to #5, and hesitated before looking up and seeing the flag. Then I thought the trail ran around he outside of #7 (it was really the form line) and so I cut over the rocky nose for no reason. I hesitated on the way to #17 as I couldn't quite figure out the parking garage and went slowly around it. Otherwise, pretty good. I'm just not moving that fast for some reason...

I had a fairly good middle at Ran it Granite and was looking forward to another. Long leg in the beginning gave me pause, but I picked a solid route choice (through the green and along the fence) but ended up climbing too high at the end of the leg and ending up above the control by a few contours. Again some trouble at the end of the leg to #2 - running up the wrong hill. 3 - 7 went pretty good. Although I didn't make any mistakes on these I can see by comparing splits that I was not moving very quickly. High on #8 (trying to read the green) and I went over the top of the hill and down through the dark green on the other side. Might have been ok, but then missed the control at the end. 10 I also ran to the wrong boulder, but then the end went well. Need to work on speed through the woods and accuracy in the circle!

Well, I did 12 push ups yesterday... my friends from work have been hanging out and I enjoy hanging out with them. But I can't do that and run. Sigh, it's a feeling like all of life is trying to rush at me at the same time.

A bit of a time crunch, so 1200s to be done around Stoney Lea.

road run 12:22 [5] 3.2 km (3:52 / km)

3 times around the Stoney Lea loop, which is just under 1200m

trail run 20:00 [2] 2.3 mi (8:42 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2130

Running on the trails with dad before the hill workout up the Blue Hill Access road.

road run hills 10:00 [5] 2.4 km (4:10 / km)
shoes: Asics 2130

Hill workout. Dad figured that we were probably going too fast for this workout, and since we are going to do 1200s on the track tomorrow because of my schedule I did these with slightly less umph.
46.24 (chasing the bike up the hill)

Amazing how much easier these felt than previous weeks. Still very hard, high HR and burning legs, but no seeing stars at the top of the hill this time.

road run 35:00 [2] 3.7 mi (9:28 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2130

Down the hill and an 11 minute cool down.

road run 2:00 [2] 0.25 mi (8:00 / mi)
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 270

Running over to Hammond Pond in the evening to run CSU's first park-o of the season, set by Alex.

Orienteering 21:49 [4] 3.1 km (7:02 / km)
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 270

"Park-o" at Hammond Pond. Slightly messed up #1, which is not the way to start, but then was fine. A few hesitations, unfortunately in the form of stopping so I could read the map. Ross creamed me, even though he says he made a lot of mistakes.

Orienteering 14:00 [1] 1.2 km (11:40 / km)
shoes: inov8 Mudclaw 270

Picking up controls with Alex. Getting cold, although the day was beautiful again today.

road run 2:07:42 [2] 15.0 mi (8:31 / mi)
shoes: Asics 2130

Long run route at Grandma and Grandpas with Dad and Hill. Felt significantly better than when I did this over Christmas. A horse was running beside us for a bit so I stopped to pet him :) That was the highlight of my run :)
