A good, solid sprint. I almost overran #1 badly as I was not used to the scale, which isn't typically something that bothers me. After than all was well - I left one control at slightly the wrong angle. But it was so visible that I felt I could keep track of where I was and still plan ahead a bit.

Ouch. This had some low points. I started off very well and finding the first 6 controls well. I was under control and kept my head up and I was leading the course at #6. I decided to take what I thought would be a safe route to #7. There was an indistinct trail coming off the main trail than then led into a rocky open corridor right to the control. The problem was I never found the indistinct trail and where I thought I had cut in off the main trail too early, I actually cut in after the intersection. I came out of the green very close to the control, but thought i was too far left, when I was really too far right. Had to go pretty far to be confident about where I was (even though I ran through some areas I thought were matching up, I didn't want to relocate wrong). This cost me about 4 or so minutes. In retrospect, I think I should have been able to accurately relocate when I came out of the green. If I had taken enough time and really thought back to what I did, I think I could have deduced my location. Instead I rushed a bit, saw people running to the right, and assumed I was very lost.

After than I bobbled a few other controls - 13 where I think I was tired and I turned my brain off, as the thoughts I had while running make no actual sense when you look at the map. And then the last control, where I just couldn't for the life of me figure out which way to go at the trail intersection and I ended up choosing the wrong fork. I over analyzed that decision.

So, mixture of good and bad. The 4 minute error pains me a bit as I didn't do what I'm supposed to do when lost, but we all learn and move on :)
