DVOA Penn State Berks - Sprint 1
The forecast was looking ominous, but this was the only weekday sprint event close enough for me to get to after work. By the time I was headed to 4, it had started to storm. When I got to 6, there was a bit of lightning farther away and I ducked under an overhang briefly before deciding to continue. By the time I reached 8, the skies had opened into a total deluge and there was a lot of lightning closer by. There was a small, old, pavilion type building there in the woods so I went in there to wait for it to lighten up. (The rain was fine, but not the amount of lightning.) And waited. And waited. Probably for about 15 minutes. Two others joined me briefly and then went on. Finally I decided to just finish the course. There was a ton of standing water already and streams forming across the grass, sometimes calf high, on the way to the last two controls. Of course, right after I finished it stopped raining, but there was a second round of storms moving in shortly and I didn't have enough time to finish the second course before control pickup anyway. Headed home to have enough time to do PT and get to bed earlyish since I have an appointment tomorrow morning.
Didn't get a print-out since the computer was being shielded from the rain and some things were disconnected. Watch says 46:06. Logging estimated time actually spent on course, not counting standing in the pavilion.
