Coventry Woods Trail 5K - registered
8 AM

trail run 57:06 [5] 6.0 km (9:31 / km)
shoes: Inov8 O-roc 280 Red Redux

Coventry Woods Challenge 5K

At the start they told us the course would be long. And it was, probably a full km long. Phone app measured 6.14 km and Garmin measured 5.85 km. I'll split the difference and call it 6.

This was rough for me. I don't think I recovered well or fully from the half, especially after being sick earlier in the month also. I ran in the beginning, then there were a ton of climbs which I walked. I tried to run downhill and most flat sections, but by the end I was just walking even on the flats. I had told Kathy that she would probably beat me, and I was right. I was ahead in the beginning but she passed me in the hilly section and although I could see her for a while she eventually pulled away and was gone.

The extra distance was the real struggle. It just felt like it went on forever and I would never see the finish.

Despite all that, this race was so small that I still managed to win my age group (technically... the overall female winner was in my age group too.) There was a 10K also and most people did that. For a while I thought I had finished dead last, but there ended up being four people behind me. I also got another Run PA shirt as a door prize, and a Ragnar shirt because I found one of several painted rocks that had been placed/hidden along the course. So three shirts total counting the race shirt. Kathy won her age group as well, and spent quite a bit of time o-vangelizing around the pavilion after the race.

14/18 overall
9/12 female
1/2 (but really 2/3) F 30-39

DVOA FDR Park - Sprint 2

And then, because I'm clearly insane, I drove down to Philly. (OK, it's because I really love sprints. And maybe because Lena gets vaguely threatening when we skip orienteering. Kathy, however, did NOT come, instead opting to return home for control-less gardening!) The drive was not very nice... Schuylkill was extremely backed up. I wanted to get there early to see the museum exhibit, but that didn't work out, so I will go back another time just for that.

I decided to do one sprint and then see if I had energy for the second one, but the answer to that was no. However, the one I did was fun and it was interesting to see all the different activities going on in the park as we ran by. And then I ran the computer for a little bit at the end.

Sciatica is definitely back for a visit. Sitting all day at work is borderline excruciating. Should make the weekend interesting :-/ although it does seem to be relieved by exercise.

Lesson on Neo. In the jump field and the only good thing about this night was that I managed to stay on top :-/

gym - stationary bike 30:00 [2] 6.0 mi (5:00 / mi)

Distance is bogus because I wasn't paying attention when I reached the end and it shut off.

Just something light - body is mostly back to normal, but my left calf is still sore.
