8 AM

hiking 15:00 [1] 0.75 mi (20:00 / mi)

Estimated walk to start (parked at Area K to shorten this up a bit, which I was thankful for later when returning)
9 AM

orienteering race 1:11:43 [4] 3.6 km (19:55 / km) +135m 16:47 / km
10c shoes: Inov8 O-roc 280 Redux

West Point Deep Hollow Middle - GreenX (F35+)

I wasn't the fastest in the world, but didn't have any major problems and found this course to be quite fun.
10 AM

hiking 25:00 [2] 1.2 mi (20:50 / mi)
shoes: Inov8 O-roc 280 Redux

Some guestimate on time for the walk back from the finish. I feel like this was tougher than the actual course. It was rocky, on the side of the hill, and felt like it went on for eternity. I was very happy to finally see the road!
2 PM

orienteering 35:37 [3] 2.5 km (14:15 / km) +58m 12:46 / km
21c shoes: Inov8 O-roc 280 Redux

West Point Camp Natural Bridge Sprint - Green (F35+)

After driving down to the other lot, downloading, eating lunch, napping, and some socializing it was time for the second race of the day. Unfortunately, something (perhaps the exertion of the morning followed by all the sitting around) caused my hip to tighten up quite a bit at around control 3-4. It was slow going after that, though I managed to muster up a jog in the paved and spectator areas.

Had one issue at control 5, where I didn't bother reading my descriptions entirely, and thought the bag would be on the boulder rather than one of the cliffs. (Not sure why, as the rock is not the center of the circle.) Anyway, I went down and circled the entire thing, then stood there scratching my head, pretty sure I was in the right area. And finally read the descriptions and climbed up to it. Though I heard others having problems with this one also.

At 10, got drawn to a different control first (I think it was on the bare rock E of the control and little swamp) before continuing to the right one.

This was still lots of fun (love sprints!) just wish I could have been faster and run more.
