(sick) (rest day)

Majorly congested. Whole head stuffed up. Fun, fun, fun.

(sick)

Lesson on William. W/T/C, crossrails, then a small course. Did okay but not great. Then a walk around the fenceline to cool down. Legs feel crappy and I am coughing up a storm.

(sick) (rest day)

Equestrian Club meeting tonight. I woke up this morning with my throat feeling scratchy and it has continued all day. Now starting to cough. Not sure if it's just spring allergies (pollen is a nightmare right now) or if I am getting sick.

There are some new machines, this was one of them, and I could not seem to find a resistance level that suited me. This felt way easy and unfulfilling. And then the seat put my ass to sleep. Not awesome.

Note

...but this is :-) You can't even tell that I'm headed for disaster at the next control... LOL

I like having pics of myself orienteering. This one was taken by Eddie. He rocks.

West Point Classic Distance - Round Pond - Green Y (F-Green)

Didn't sleep as well this night due to noisy people outside, pounding rain on the metal roof, and I also felt that it was colder. Woke up at 6:30 so I could drive other people to their starts -- really missing the shuttles this year. Napped in my car and got to the start line still feeling slightly bleary. Thankfully I woke up as soon as I got into the woods.

Started out slowly again, only *large* problem with the second control. I ended up way too far down the hill and had trouble trusting myself once I relocated so moved very slowly into it. After that things were better. I found it much easier to navigate today thanks to all the large water features. Also the longest leg was made pretty trivial thanks to a trail. (Long legs are often my downfall.) I felt like I wandered and got off purpose from 8 to 9... this leg just felt like it was taking forever as I picked my way around the green and cliffs. Finally, 10 to 11 was very steep downhill and rocky. By the end I was having problems really picking up my feet and tripped quite a bit including whacking my shin into a log I meant to step OVER.

I was pleased with this time when I finished, but now feel like it could have been better. I just move so slowly when the terrain is rocky and steep, this will probably never be my best area. I guess being slow is better than ending up with a broken ankle. I do have to say, after several years of dropping to Brown at WP, I thought I might be over extending myself this year but handled it all readily. Also I don't feel as beaten up as I think I should.

Walk to the start, much nicer than yesterday.

Note

Didn't take a whole lot of pics this weekend, and what I did take were mostly scenics. The morning fog made a beautiful subject of Round Pond, though :-)
