Orienteering race (Sprint) 14:22 [4] *** 2.28 km (6:18 / km)
ahr:171 max:178 spiked:10/11c shoes: Integrators 2005

Real nasty weather, but I felt great. Ran a near perfect race except for one control where the map was out-of-date. The control was on a boulder in a stream, and I was coming off of the edge of the field. I saw the boulder, but it looked way too far away from the edge of the field. I spent about 15 seconds trying to figure out what was going on before deciding on running to the boulder I had originally thought was right. The edge of the field had grown over, so the field didn't extend as far, and thus the boulder was a lot further from the edge of the field as was indicated on the map.

Otherwise a pretty solid run. I think that the route over the parking lot from 8-9 might have been a bit faster, but I was sick of having to cross that stream, so I opted for the woods route which turned out to be really rocky and slow. Anyway, it felt good to be out in the woods again even though the weather was so crappy. I was hoping to run a longer course as well, but my ride was threatening to ditch me.

Anyway, here are my splits with average and max HR:

1.) 0:51 - 143 - 169
2.) 0:59 - 172 - 175
3.) 0:31 - 174 - 174
4.) 1:22 - 173 - 175
5.) 1:59 - 171 - 176
6.) 1:44 - 171 - 176
7.) 1:02 - 174 - 175
8.) 0:32 - 171 - 172
9.) 3:13 - 174 - 176
10.) 1:02 - 175 - 178
11.) 0:43 - 177 - 178
F.) 0:19 - 174 - 176

Note
(sick)

Missed two days in a row now due to sickness. I don't know what is up, but both days I started to feel really crappy in the early afternoon. Mostly just exhaustion accompanied by a headache, but it also kind of feels like a cold although I don't appear to be stuffed up at all. I wonder if it might be the recent warm weather that is giving my body some problems. I have been sleeping great and drinking as much as I can, although probably not enough water. I will have to make a point of carrying my water bottle with me from now on as the summer seems to be approaching rapidly.

Road Run long 1:07:53 [2] 9.4 mi (7:13 / mi)
ahr:162 max:180 shoes: Asics GT-2100 (2006)

Did a nice long run over Airport Hill. The weather was absolutely beautiful and even turned out to be a bit chilly on top of the hill. My legs felt great, but my stomach started hurting about 40 minutes into the run. I guess the nachos I had for lunch didn't really agree with me.

Road Run warm up/down 16:29 [2] 2.0 mi (8:14 / mi)
ahr:161 max:179 shoes: Asics GT-2100 (2006)

Easy warm-up jog to Holy Cross to run on the track.

Track tempo (5x400 + 5x200) 23:00 [5] 3.0 km (7:40 / km)
ahr:160 max:183 shoes: Asics GT-2100 (2006)

Ran 5x400m + 5x200m with 1:30 rests on the track with Caleb. The goal was to alternate 75 and 70 seconds on the 400s, and straight 30s all across for the 400s. Legs felt great and the weather was absolutely perfect. We were considering doing more 200s, but decided to only do 5. It turned out to be a good decision as it felt just right, and we stayed right on track the whole way. Here are my splits:

1.) 1:15.9 - 151 - 175
r.) 1:30.2 - 154 - 175
2.) 1:11.7 - 163 - 181
r.) 1:30.4 - 161 - 181
3.) 1:14.8 - 163 - 181
r.) 1:30.2 - 160 - 182
4.) 1:10.5 - 164 - 183
r.) 1:30.3 - 163 - 183
5.) 1:12.9 - 166 - 182
r.) 2:00.2 - 156 - 182
6.) 0:29.5 - 149 - 176
r.) 1:30.2 - 163 - 179
7.) 30.3 - 157 - 178
r.) 1:30.5 - 164 - 180
8.) 0:30.0 - 156 - 177
r.) 1:30.5 - 165 - 180
9.) 0:30.7 - 157 - 177
r.) 1:30.2 - 165 - 179
10.) 0:28.6 - 157 - 176
