Orienteering race 39:34 [5] *** 4.3 km (9:12 / km) +150m 7:50 / km

Flying Pig WRE Middle Distance Race at Rentschler Forest, OH. Although I may have waited around the longest I ever had for an orienteering race (5+ hrs), the race was definetly worth the wait. Since I didn't start until 5:06 and it had been raining for the past day or so the woods, especially within the control circle were very muddy. The mud did make the elephant trails easy to see, however, running through them was all together another story.
Although I hit every control almost dead on, several of my route choices may not have been the fastest (starting and then finishing last prevented me from doing any course comparison with anyone). Legs that may have costed me the most time were 2-3 (slow to make a route choice), 8-9 (ran up the spur rather than around the trail and up the reentrant), and then 13-14 (hesitated too much). All in all though I was pretty pleased with my run and had a great time getting muddy out in the woods!

Orienteering 30:00 [2] *** 1.6 km (18:45 / km)

Flying Pig Middle Distance Model Event. Since Julie and I had tons of time to kill we decided lesiurely walk the model. The only notable thing we encountered were these awesome rusty pieces of old farm equipment and ruins that had had trees literally growing up right through them. Just goes to show you that you can't stop mother nature.

Running warm up/down 15:00 [3] 2.0 km (7:30 / km)
