Note

My knee is as bad as it's ever been - still can't make it up or down stairs without sharp pains even with the brace on. Bleah. Probably shouldn't have run the last couple of legs of the long. Drat, drat, drat.

orienteering race 45:15 [3]

Another fun outing with a mediocre result. Was sloppy in a few places but no big errors. Tried to run but kept tripping and then having to stop to wipe the tears out of my eyes so I could read the map. Need to figure out why that happens.

orienteering race 40:40 [3]

Interesting outing. No big errors, a few places where I fumbled a little but not badly but my time was terrible so I guess I'm just that slow. Had trouble reading the map and was constantly having to stop to figure out what to do next and I guess that added up. I wore my reading glasses for the first time and without them I'd probably still be out there so glad I did that. But my eyes were tearing like crazy and even just following a compass bearing was tough. Same problem last weekend but with the 1:7500 it didn't matter so much. My lack of training is also catching up with me.

orienteering 1:00:00 [3]

Model event; hiked around and visited some controls. Missed on just about all of them event at a walk. Hard to read the map - I miss the 1:7500 from last weekend!! My eyes were tearing like crazy and the magnifier didn't seem to be much help. Not sure what my strategy will be tomorrow. I never missed badly or was unsure of about where I was and was able to correct but it was an extra minute at just about each one.

Ran into someone who said she was lost and I told her where she was and she wouldn't believe me. I finally showed her a control and hopefully she figured it out from there.

Note

Glad I decided to come. Found someone to carpool with and some chores around the house were miraculously taken care of so took it as a sign that I should make the trip. So far enjoying it but the terrain will be tough on me physically I think. Am only staying until Sunday though.
