Note

To the Equinox for a wine tasting by a wholesale distributor. Sampled 60 wines over the afternoon, somebody had to do it ... nailed a few very good ones at very reasonable cost <$10, and few okay ones at $50.

Three hours in the morning cutting back brush on the new Butternut Hill trail. Got the worst part done.

Then all afternoon excavating, shoveling and setting drains across the top of the drive in front of the garage. Mixed up some concrete to lock them in place. Some was fresh, but 2 bags went back to setting posts for the deck 8 years ago. These had already set rock hard, so need to get a couple more.

Back pretty sore.

Forest walk this morning, looking at the result of thinning and timber stand improvement efforts.

Then to the short annual meeting at the rec center and discussion about extending the rail trail right to the door of the center (another 2/3 mile). Got to get the DNR to relax and allow the trail to get within the 200' exclusion zone along the river for about 45' of the total distance. Looks like it finally will be allowed. That will be nice.

And finally a good workout on the machines --

wrist curls, russian twists 10#, one leg squats

ski erg 3 x 500 m 2.16, 1.59, 2.01

Back on the Boulder Dash map. Set a bunch of survey tape for control locations for training runs. Like the mix of forest, rock and some slash.

Back for another look at The Martian. Good flick that brings back the excitement of space like it was in the Sputnik to Apollo era.

Touring parking lots in the dawn.

1st time in two years. Loosened up after ten minutes. Knee felt a little funky, but okay. Could feel a pull in R bicep that hasn't bothered me since last spring -- guess that comes from my V1 right side. Switched to L and no problem.
