Note
(sick)

No skiing today; under the weather. Flight back tonight and start grooming tomorrow.

Skate Ski (Tahoe Donner) 1:06:00 [3] 9.7 km (6:48 / km)

Chasing Greg and Jonas up over the top of TD. Snow much firmer today, but not fast, although downhill runs were great.

Didn't sleep well last night, had a cough that wouldn't quit. Maybe sign of getting sick. Definitely tired on the long climb up TD.
3 PM

Skate Ski (TD) 1:27:00 [3] 15.6 km (5:35 / km)

Back later in the afternoon; changed wax to HF7 purple. Down into Euer Valley with Greg. Trails nicely solid now and skis faster. Not skiing as strong as I'd like; combination of altitude, getting tired and maybe getting sick, too. Greg is skiing noticeably faster this year, which is great to see.

Skate Ski (Royal Gorge) 2:45:00 [3] 23.3 km (7:05 / km)

Morning over to Palisades Peak until the grooming gave out, and then down around Kidd Lake. With Carol and Greg, and Ruthie, all skating in pretty heavy soft-packed snow.

Then after lunch Ruthie did some classic around the Summit Station trails and Greg and I headed down over to Van Norden. A little firmer, but chopped up with dog tracks and pedestrian travel.

Used Greg's LF6 for the colder snow today, but found it slower than I'd like because of the soft surface. Maybe 90% was V1 and that got tiring. Hammered hard up a couple short steep pitches and got to the top feeling I had someone's fingers wrapped around my neck squeezing off the air.

Skate Ski (Tahoe Donner) 1:50:00 [3] 16.8 km (6:33 / km)

More snow on the trails; waited until lunch, but still quite soft. Greg double poled all day, but I slog-skated. Ruthie was smart and classiced. Still, nice skiing and nice to hear snow's heading in back home, too.

Skate Ski (Tahoe Donner) 1:45:00 [3] 16.6 km (6:20 / km)
shoes: Peltonen 4

In Truckee with Greg and Carol for Xmas. Sweet flight out last night, came in with Santa Claus.

Mucho snow at the areas and more coming down this afternoon. Just building base, maybe a meter or so on the ground and softly packed on the trails. Couple inches of new snow this afternoon slowed the skating, but a fun tour for all of us down into Euer Valley. Back to the base area and then Greg and I found a freshly packed trail and followed it halfway up the hillside.

Felt pretty good despite reports of thin air in the region.
