Note

very long drive back with 2 hour wait at the border
8 AM

orienteering 1:42:51 [4] 6.91 km (14:53 / km)

1) cut in a little too late and moving way too slow
2) should have stuck right to fence or gone around green (direct route beyond my abilities)
4) looks like i was standing on top of the right cliff when i bailed out (dunh) - lost over 10 minutes here
8) didn't have a plan, and way too slow when i finally came up with one
10) more climb but much safer route
11) very hard to keep map contact, hesitation (and backtracking) just outside circle when i wasn't 100% sure where i was

1) very hesitant, and very slow, just not at all confident
2) still moving slowly, easy enough leg
3) headed off in wrong direction, realized it pretty early - so just ran to stream, up stream, through marsh and up to control
4) long hesitation, convinced I would get totally lost - was actually a pretty easy leg once I decided to drop below the control
5) edge of green was obvious - followed it until I spotted the control below
6) stopped (for too long) at top of hill to verify I was where I expected
7) too far to east - luckily I looked behind me an control was about 20 meters away
8) just blasted down hill, spotted water to left, so knew where I was and ran along waiting for the boulder which was a bit higher and a bit further than I expected
9) not much left in legs, but easy enough
10) map didn't make sense to me after I crossed the road but found it without too much trouble
11) dropped a bit too low - but the re-entrant told me where I was
finish) not much of a sprint in

garmin only had sattelite connection for end of race
2 PM

orienteering 21:50 [3]

sprint - very hot and very tired - just couldn't run much - didn't look to the left at 6, everything else was fine just very slow

Note

spent most of the day driving, then most of the evening (well past my bedtime) booking fights as taxes go up a lot tomorrow on canadian flights - somebody told me this evening

somehow I seem to have accumulated a LOT of air canada air miles - spent over 65,000 tonight, still have over 50,000. Hmmm, need to have a look at my spending recently. Hopefully, I was always accumulating at this rate, just was spending them so quickly flying out to care for ailing parents that I didn't notice.

should have spent a lot more time stretching after the long drive, and poor choice of shoes
