Orienteering race 1:06:57 [5] 10.0 km (6:42 / km) +260m 5:55 / km

Scottish 6 Days - Day 6 - Anagach

Bought a map magnifier before today (something I'd been thinking of for a while) - and it was a revelation - I could finally read the detail in the control circle on the run (rather than running into the circle and hoping!). It meant I had a fairly clean navigational race and only my tired legs slowed me down. Finished in a pleasing 19th place (interestingly a 3 way tie) - nice run to finish the week.

Finished in 17th overall for the week. Pity it's 2 years till the next one.

Orienteering race 41:22 [4] 5.2 km (7:57 / km) +110m 7:12 / km

Scottish 6 Days - Day 5 Cameroy

Race of two halves - First bit started well but had a bad miss on control 3 and then Brendan Bolland ran passed me in an uphill marsh like I was standing still. Second half was contouring and down hill and I was much smoother (Brendan caught me again!). Finished an okay 29th - without the early mistake would have easily been top 20.
Hope there's not too much uphill in Anagach.

Scottish 6 Days - Day 4 - Culbin

Bit of a bad day in the office. It was a chasing start and I was starting in a fairly good position (due to overachieving Day 1 & 2 results), however I missed at 3 which meant I missed my 'train', I was then running on my own for most of the course apart from when Dave G & Joe M passed me going to 23 (whilst I was going back to 22!). Too many mistakes and a slow solo pace gave me a result of 40th.

Orienteering race 18:20 [3] 3.0 km (6:07 / km)

Scottish 6 Days - Rest Day Sprint Race - Kinguisse

Decided to do the rest day sprint race as I've got quite a soft spot for urban races. Ran it at about 80% effort so as to not knacker me too much. Result was therefore as low as I'd have expected (19th). Good course and area though - fun to run around a primary school.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Run from car park to event and back. Ran fairly fast on way to race as thought I'd be late for start (I was - 5 minutes!) and fast on the way back to get home in time for the kids' bath time.

Scottish 6 Days - Day 3

Hmm, it's not a holiday anymore! Ran well at beginning and caught sight of Sprotty at number 3. Then my legs decided they were knackered and I still had 12km to go. Result (27th) much more like what was expected.

Running warm up/down 20:00 [2]

WU to start - had to run faster than usual as I was a bit late after helping set up the Blue start.

Scottish 6 Days Day 2 - Balavil

Had an early start, but luckily still Jez as my 2 minute man. Had another strangely good result (11th), everyone else must be here for a holiday!

Scottish 6-Days Day 1 - Alvie

Surprised myself with a strong run and good result (15th). Had a late start so there were some nice elephant tracks through the tougher stuff and I had Jez Edwards 2 minutes ahead to chase.
