HammerFIT with AG! before traveling to Edinburgh

Running 2:30:00 [3]

Jog with AG! up Ben Macdui (2nd highest mtn in GBR) and then over to the cliff line and up Cairngorm Mtn. Had a few anxiety attacks near the cliffs and the scree slope on Cairngorm. Decided to finish at the Ptarmigan restaurant and take tram down the mtn to save the knees. Very windy (and cold) but lots of fun. Hot tub afterwards at hotel was awesome.

Wind gusts were 45 mph!!! and wind chill was +1C on mtn top. Two poor guys were fixing instruments on the met station at the top of Cairngorm. Nasty conditions for that. Fortunately it didn't rain.

Swedish orienteering propaganda!

Calm down Sweden...

Note

Hike up Cairngorm mountain. tested the knee with 5 minutes of running. Well at least I thought it was 5 minutes but AG! called it 5 steps. Got back in time to see the end of the WOC Long! Incredible nav and running skills on display. It looked really really physically tough. Orienteering is a tough sport.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] ***
spiked:12/14c (injured)

Jogged (and walked) most of today's race (skipped the trashy woods section). Both knees are a wee bit sore but tolerable in the open forest. Very enjoyable orienteering. Would have been extra fun to run at speed. Now a day to rest so I can attempt a trek to Ben Macdui with AG!.

Orienteering 50:00 [3]
spiked:17/18c (injured)

Darnaway. Day#3 of Scottish 6-day. Plan was to walk and then jog on trails and look after the knee. Forest was wide open and so I started to jog in the forest and well jogged more than I planned. Knee still feeling OK a few hours afterwards. Terrain was very similar to southern Ontario. Call it a cross between west end of DV with Palgrave. Fun course. Pleased with run. Only one ~20s error when I ran from CP4 to 7 before correcting. Despite a near perfect run my slow pace was only good enough for 112th out of 170 participants in my category (not that I care). :-)

Strength 30:00 [3]
(injured)

A week after my Edinburgh city orienteering wipeout and my knee is good to walk on but i pulled the plug on an attempt to jog on the local football pitch after just 50m. Core instead. Still hope to jog one of the 6-day races.
