Rollerskiing 1:00:39 intensity: (31 @0) + (35:41 @1) + (24:15 @2) + (12 @3) 8.18 mi (7:25 / mi) +162m 6:59 / mi

Classic rollerski! Had to first find the skis, which were not in the basement, but very dust-covered in my parents' garage - they have not been used at least since their move in 2015... Some old V2 930s, which mostly work but have an iffy ratchet. Probably kinda good for ski-emulation actually, not perfect grip classic wax!

This was during some pretty intense snow flurries, haven't roller skied while it's snowing all that often...

Orienteering 45:03 intensity: (4 @0) + (11:30 @1) + (30:29 @2) + (2:31 @3) + (29 @4) 3.39 mi (13:17 / mi)

UNO's Weeks Woods event, Red

Really enjoyed this run around Weeks Woods - just a light layer of crunchy snow. I put down the first tracks, but probably they aren't super-easy to follow with incomplete snow coverage.

I think HRs should have been higher than this...

Running 1:08 [2] 0.06 mi (18:48 / mi)
ahr:135 max:158 shoes: Inov8 Oroc 290 Ultras

Not much of a cool-down. Back to the car and rush back home so I could get up to Hanover for the BKL K-2 coaches workshop for Ford Sayre!

ahr:128 max:159

Trail run on snowy trails! Very pretty out. Lots of tracks (animals, not many humans, one fat-tire bike). Explored the "Upper Johns Glen" trails which someone has gone crazy with in the past year. For only about 1 mi total of trail there are 6 color of blazes: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple!

Note
(rest day)

I wasn't sick, but Martin was. He felt hot in the middle of the night, then when we got up at 5am or so, it was clear he was sick. So I spent much of the day with the little guy shivering and sleeping on me. In the middle of the day, I went in to Sylvia's class (her teacher reported having Covid first thing in the morning, at least she hasn't been in the classroom since Mon, so here's hoping that we don't all have Covid for Thanksgiving!) to teach about conifers. I am a much better teacher of college students than I am kindergarteners... ah well. *Maybe* they learned that not all cones are pinecones. But I doubt they can tell the difference between our four native + common conifers here: hemlock, white spruce, white pine and balsam fir. Amazingly all 4 are easily on display right outside of their nature classroom!

But anyways, working out didn't happen because I was being slept on too much of the day...

Running 1:01:33 intensity: (5:06 @1) + (49:07 @2) + (5:50 @3) + (1:30 @4) 7.19 mi (8:34 / mi) +273m 7:39 / mi

Yup, least fav weather - 30-something degrees and raining. Plus slush all over the dirt roads to top it off. So for the first time since arriving here in August, I actually sought out the paved road for running - it was plowed this morning. Did 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1 min intervals with half rest.

Slightly cold (esp hands) on warm-up and cool-down, but ok during intervals. Maybe should have had either a heavier jacket or heavier long underwear top on.

Was too cold to do drills. =(

Note

Ok, so that's the official wrap on Fall O season! Although we'll head to UNO's meet this Sat, was hoping to go to NEOC's on Sunday, but Tom's got a work thing Sunday that makes it just too much.

Spotted another ski-o on EMPOs schedule Dec 18th at Lapland Lake - I think that was where I first tried ski-o (and started to get to really know Alex), so hope they'll have the snow and can get to that!

Today, Tues - 1h rollerski, core
Wed - might snow! but wintry mix during the day... so plan is road intervals, pyramid 1-2-3-4-4-3-2-1, drills if not *too* miserable out
Thurs - 1h20-30 distance run (hopefully trails if not too messy), core
Fri - 1h10-20 rollerski with some minute pickups
Sat - UNO meet! drills, core
Sun - distance run?
10 AM

Strength 16:03 [0]
ahr:69 max:83

Normal core stuff. Was a little scared since a normal core session is what tweaked the hamstring, but no problems today (didn't push any exercises).
2 PM

Rollerskiing 59:57 intensity: (16:41 @1) + (42:18 @2) + (58 @3) 10.23 mi (5:52 / mi) +191m 5:32 / mi
ahr:130 max:153

Easy distance skate rollerski. 39F out, dressed ok but slightly cool. But even a Buff probably would have made me too warm... (Long tights, v. light long underwear top, lightest ski jacket)

Note
(rest day)

Red eye back to east coast, then bop from NYC to BOS, then Dartmouth Coach home. Napped an hour or so midday because overnight was really only ~4h of sleep.

Body feels fine though, so that's good! Really psyched hammie isn't seeming to be a problem!
