Orienteering 17:00 [4]

Orienteering 18:00 [4]

Running 50:00 [1]

Race 1. Urban sprint. No mistakes. Hesitated a few times but the course didn't have any traps aside from making sure there actually was an opening in a fence or wall. Started first, a few min ahead of anyone else so had the entire town by myself pretty much.

Race 2. Park sprint. Did two beginner mistakes and the second of them was costly but it was caused by the first one. First mistake I did was that I didn't read the instructions properly about the railway crossing. I thought the entire railway was out of bounds or not allowed to run across, and it was, but didn't realize that at one part it was elevated and you could run underneath it. So I took a route choice that was really slow, came out somewhere I could see people running underneath railway, looking at my map trying to figure that part out, which was totally unnecessary since that was already a done deal, saw a control on a small hill top thought it was mine, punched and continued and of course ended up with a mp.

Orienteering 1:22:00 [4]

Running 20:00 [1]

Long Distance. Very different terrain. Very. 8.7km and 685m of climb made this on paper one of the toughest courses I have done but it wasn't that bad. Woods were nice as long as you avoided the dark green. The white was really nice and the light green had the odd thorn bushes. Legs were a bit tired from yesterday and I felt a bit congested but it was full focus on the orienteering and I had good race. Did a counting error on one hillside and ran one re-entrant too far and had to go back but that was about it. Got a bit pushed around by the terrain on one other leg too but that was more because I was getting tired and started to get a bit lazy.

Orienteering 49:00 [4]

Running 20:00 [1]

Middle Distance. Flat and fast area with lots of trails. Good course setting with many direction changes and not as much trail as expected. Most of the time you ran across the trails. A few tricky control placements, you had to literally stand a look into the depression a few times to see the flag. Started off well, except a few seconds on the second control, but was in full control halfway through and was even in the lead for a couple of controls before things started to go south. First mistake was a depression just 50m from the previous control: bearing was not considered and I was just gunning in the general direction. I did find a depression but wrong code; I couldn't see the depression on the map (it was underneath the circle) and after some serious thinking I was pretty sure it was organizer's mistake and started to head towards the next control but then thought some more and realized that if it was the organizer's mistake, it would have been announced before I started since I had a late start. Back to the previous control and now a more precise bearing and there it was...According to AP, my min/km on that leg was 71 minutes. Could be a new record. Did another 3 minutes or so on the following control, one of these depressions I just ran by without seeing the flag. Those were the big ones but I still enjoyed it; it was a lot of fun.

I still enjoyed the
