Cycling (Road) 57:00 [2]
Figured an off day was in order, but Kate needed the car, so I rode in to work. Had breakfast with the Kate & Baby-O, so I didn't head in until 7:00. Traffic was remarkably light and it was nice to ride in the daylight.

Now the big question (as posed by Peter): did it work? Well, certainly not the way I 'd hoped, but as disappointing as the weekend's results were, Friday can be almost completely attributed to being very comforatble reading the map while running fast through the woods. I haven't been very good at that in the past and I did a lot of it last month. That's the funny thing about training; sometimes the unintended consequences are the most significant. At any rate, any month that ends in a National Championship is a good month, so I'd do it all over.
And that brings us to the really good news of the weekend. Upon returning home, Kate and I had a serious conversation (at my request, not hers) about my goals and what it might take to get there. She's been mighty supportive this year and I was concerned her patience might be running a bit thin. Her response (and this is a direct quote): "Take care of the list on the refrigerator and you can do pretty much whatever you want." Now, that's not exactly a blank check - that list has got pretty long so I'll have to cut back a bit just to get it knocked out, but damn, that's about as easy a pass as one could ever hope for. So, we'll try again next year.
