Running between parks. Started from Laumeier, so it also served as a warmup.

Emmenegger (1:10) Test Loop. Tried to take Spike's advice and focus on running hard through the transitions from white to light green. Time would indicate I was unsuccessful, but I actually moved pretty well. I probably lost at least a minute because I was wearing trail shoes instead of spikes. Conditions were pretty sloppy.

Old course at Laumeier (1:5). In keeping with my desire to train light green speed, I took a lot of direct routes even though the around routes on trails are almost always faster. Interestingly, my time is within a few seconds of what I did in the race 4 years ago. Of course, I didn't have to slow down to punch this time and punching 30 controls probably takes at least a minute.

Test running the "Blue" course at Hawn (1:15) for Team Trials. Obviously too short - this wasn't even a full competition effort. I'm not sure what David was thinking - 10K at Hawn won't even take the top guys an hour. Fortunately, it's a huge park so it will be no trouble to tack on distance.

Then some night nav practice on the USGS map of Weldon Spring (1:24). Sort of a control picking course, although the features on USGS maps are far enough apart that most legs were still around 400m.

Could feel that the heel is not 100%, but it didn't bother me, either. No flare-ups after the run. Still, I guess I'll skip the long meet in KC this weekend. Better to let it heal during the part of the season I don't care about.
