Race race 7:45:00 [4]

WT race with mrs Gally, Storm and Wokitoki

Wow this one hurt. We initially were going to race with Bent but he decided to brake his ribs so we were lucky enough to get Bender who decided to dislocate his shoulder the week before, so we wer again lucky to get Chad Spence who luckily didn't breaker anything.

Race started with a massive paddle into an island section which was very fun. We chose a longer route with easier features and it seemed to be a wash with the other route choice. From there it was a long paddle through some beautiful areas that were untouched. Other then a broken seat and couple bobbles we ended up not too far off the lead. My rowing training clearly paid off

From there we went into a great off road trek which is our bread and butter. For some reason my nav wasn't that sharp this race but Chad and Storm really helped out and we worked well as a team. Overshot to the north on the first cp but relocated and got the pc fortunately. To the next cp everything went well until we got on the atv trails where we took a wrong trail that went NW. Damage done but on the way back we saw team France so that got us motivated again. On to the next cp and back into TA to find out the damage was done and we were racing for third.

Or so we thought until they took off in the first 5 min of the bike and never to be seen again. By now we were suffering from the heat and I was having lots of stomach issues so it now became a race just to finish and hold our position. The rest of the race was very slow but we slugged through it and finished

I really suffered this race and have come to the realization that I just can't continue to do the longer races with minimal training. Bob May have pushed me into retirement after this race course!

Overall we worked well as a team, especially with racing with Chad for the first time. He fit in nicely and was strong for the team. Shout out to mrs Gally who had one of her stronger races and even tried helping out with the nav!
