ACT long championships at Boboyan Divide. After the last two days didn't hold out a lot of hope for a good run and set off fairly conservatively. Soon realised that the fallen timber meant that running round along the edge of the yellow was a good way to get through the longer legs. Went well if a little slowly through the first six controls, with just a bit of hesitation on 4 crossing parallel bands of rock. After 6 chose a longish route right to use the cleared areas that led almost to 7, slowed a bit through the green on a hilltop and hit the control. On the long leg from 8-9 again decided to use the cleared areas which also led to a good attackpoint rather than coming straight over a hill. Got a bit distracted coming out of 8 and pushed around by the bush, but once I hit the open was going well and spiked the control. Picked up Magne Knudsen who'd started somewhere in front of me here so felt like I was going well, went ahead of him to 10, but he spotted the flag first, this was reversed at 11 when he passed the flag but I'd spotted it. Still with him through 12 and 13, then he did a face plant coming down the hill to 14, checked he was OK then carried on. Thought I'd read the map well into 15, but didn't see the boulder and probably dropped a minute here, think this was the worst mistake in the circle today. From here was it easy running and spiked the last 7 controls. Overall was happy with the run, maybe lost about 5 mins altogether on route choice and in the circle. As the only bandit on the course in the absence of dreaded and acejase also became ACT M35 champion. Much better end to the weekend than I expected.
