Orienteering race 1:13:27 [5] **** 5.1 km (14:24 / km) +180m 12:15 / km
shoes: Adidas Kanadia

Best race of the week. Very steep and muddy. #3 was shown in white forest but was hidden inside new pine trees, so I lost a couple of minutes.

Great run up to 5 and was in 29th place. Forgot to go to 6 and 7 so finding 8 was a mission. 9 to end were good again, so dsq although could have been about 50th.

Not a great start to the race and lost about 3-4 minutes. Rest of run was pretty good. Very happy with some of the legs.

Same area as Brad and Jess for the middle, but I think the controls were not as technical.

Orienteering race 1:25:34 [4] 3.78 km (22:40 / km) +120m 19:33 / km
shoes: Adidas Kanadia

Two very bad legs. On #5 I took 25 min and was 121st on that leg. The guy who was 120th took 13 min and the fastest was about 2,5.

Sat in traffic as they tried to park all the cars in the field. 1 hour for 3km. I went straight to the start and did a punching start, but did not prepare, eg know where north was, what the starting slope was etc.

Orienteering race 1:01:28 [3] 5.98 km (10:17 / km) +75m 9:40 / km
shoes: Adidas Kanadia

First race of Scottish 6 day. Took it really slow to start to understand the map. Navigation was reasonable in the first half, just very cautious. In the second half, I was running better that I had planned and took a lot of safe routes on roads. Could have cut down a lot with a more aggressive approach.
Very happy! Finish split was 20s - Garry took 17 (but he didn't know there was a competition on).
