Run 15:00 [3] 1.7 mi (8:49 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Green

Time and distance are both made up. I ran over to Carrboro with Mallory and Kate to get groceries for our falafel dinner. Mallory showed us a much better route; instead of running down Franklin Street and stopping for traffic lights, you can run along a sidestreet and then take a bikepath.

The falafel came out much better than the oily conglomerate that happened last time I tried to make it :-).

...and I found apple butter at the store, which I think is similar to the really good apple sauce at the swedish base.

Walk 30:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Green

We walked back from the store since we were carrying the groceries. There was an old telephone pole along the bikepath that looked like the base had been chewed partly through.

Getting an annoying cold...hopefully it won't last.

Walk 1:00:00 [2] 3.0 mi (20:00 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Green

I went for a walk with Amelia after lab. It was liberating to get outside after spending most of today and a chunk of last night doing physics.

It started raining about halfway through the walk, but it was a warm rain, the kind that leaves everything smelling fresh :).

Soccer 25:00 [3]

First a game of World Cup...but it dissolved into a sort of general chaos, so then we played full-field.

I'm not sure if we just have way too many people or if there are just too many always clustered around the ball, but these games are really crowded. Still fun to be playing soccer, though.

Next week it changes to either flag football or outdoor volleyball; not sure which yet.

Run 25:35 [3] 3.0 mi (8:32 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Green

Should have been locked inside writing a physics lab, but it was way to beautiful a day outside, so I went for a run in the park. I took the lower path on the first run through, the one with five or so streams to jump, and then the higher path on the way back. Good practice moving across water quickly, I suppose :).

Ping-pong 40:00 [3]

So while we were playing doubles, Josh hit the ball in the corner just behind the net and I really wanted to hit it back, so I dove for it...and body-slammed flat into the floor. It made a spectacular crash.

This was somewhat unfortunate because the people playing at other tables turned around and gave me these horrified expressions. But somehow, it didn't hurt at all. I must've fallen perfectly on my stomach and so didn't slam any knees or elbows into the wood.

The hit was good, but it turns out Josh had hit the ball out of turn, so it would have been our point anyway. Oh well.

I couldn't stop laughing, so the next few rallies were interesting and I think Tim and I lost that game.

Run 22:33 [3] 3.1 mi (7:16 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Green

I ran a handful of ~1+ km loops around North campus.

I had fun playing around with the Garmin. I've mostly been using it for distance, but I flipped through all the settings and noticed it can do a lot of other neat things that I'll have to experiment with.

Catching Features 25:30 [0]

I got lost in catching features...but from watching the track-track-like analysis afterwards, I passed through the control circle twice and didn't see the control, and then kept circling it. It was in a depression, so maybe it was hard to see.

Ping-pong 40:00 [3]

Ping-pong "tournament" with Jana, Josh, Zach, and Anthony. We were going to have the tournament tomorrow, but since we were only missing one person we played today instead.

(In order):

vs. Anthony (19-21), he won
vs. Zach (21-19), I won
vs. Jana (18-21), she won
vs. Josh (9-21), he won
vs. Jana (21-19), I won
vs. Josh (16-21), he won

Good fun, but the close games drive me crazy. I need to work on a stronger backhand.

Soccer 30:00 [2]
shoes: Brooks Green

We played the first two mini-games on a half-field, which didn't work very well and we weren't able to run very much. Then we combined teams and played full-field, which was much better.
