Orienteering 1:19:22 [3] 7.5 km (10:35 / km) +305m 8:48 / km
shoes: orienteering shoes

Day 2 of the GA Navigator Cup. It was wonderful to see everyone again, and I had a lot of fun.

Both days felt great physically, & I felt fast for the first time in awhile, which was surprising.

This run was mostly clean, except for one huge error (control 3), and smaller errors in the last couple of controls since I was just trying to get back quickly and not being careful enough.

Start-1-2: the running and navigation were good.

3: I got disoriented in parallel reentrants and had a lot of trouble relocating. I did things that I shouldn't like check wrong controls that were on similar features but not the same feature.

4-5-6-7: Spiked. Lots of pace-counting and compass work.

8: Hesitated a little near the control when I saw the control in the reentrant just before it. But didn't check the wrong control this time and kept going. Fairly good.

9: good.

10: Fast except for a point in the middle when I stopped dead and got really confused. I was on a bearing, but I had crossed two streams while there is only one stream on the map. I'm still not sure what was going on there. But then I just kept going on the bearing and found it.

11: Aimed off a bit too much, so lost a little time but not too much. Fast.

12: I followed an unmapped (too shallow?) erosion gully which cost some time.

13: I went straight instead of taking the road. After talking with people afterwards, I think the road would've been faster.

Event: GA Nav. Cup

Orienteering 1:17:28 [3] *** 7.8 km (9:56 / km) +215m 8:44 / km
spiked:5/11c shoes: orienteering shoes

Day 1 of the GA Nav. Cup. I made real mistakes on two controls, spiked 5, and four controls were mediocre.

Will write more later. Overall it was alright, but not that spectacular.

Note

Wildlife: 2 pit creatures again. They were particularly obnoxious today and I kind of felt like knocking one off the little stone wall.

Mallory, Amelia, & Kate--sorry for the lunch mixup today! Mon telephone est mort :(.

Cross-Training (step) 1:00:00 [3]
shoes: Brooks Green

Amelia and I went to Zumba, but the gym was packed with people and the class was already full, so we got exiled to Step instead.

We found a back way to sneak into the Zumba room undetected by the guy checking stamps, but we decided to be golden children. Although as we were debating whether to be golden children or not, I'm pretty sure we revealed the entrance to a couple of other people who did sneak in.

Um...I don't think Step is my forte.

Stretching 15:00 [0]

Mapwork while stretching on the ceiling. I chose routes on the Russian map from Gabe that's on the ceiling.

Run (hills) 21:35 [3] 2.85 mi (7:34 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Green

I ran down the hill to Greenwood and then ran two sets of hills partway back up (six or seven telephone poles' distance). Then I ran the long hill all the way up to the traffic light.

On pacecounting: going downhill, pacecount between poles: 23. Going uphill, pacecount between same poles: 28.

Stretching 15:00 [0]

Mapwork while stretching. Routes on a course from Bogg's Mountain. Also, visualization for the control circles and attackpoints.

Ping-pong 45:00 [3]

Ping-pong in the union w/ Jana, Zach, Josh, Tim, & Chris. Lots of running around, so good fun.
