Running 1:14:31 [5] 11.19 mi (6:40 / mi)
shoes: Nike Air Max Moto+ 6

Bear Mountain Bridge run; ended up being one of my fastest ones ever. Sutherland passed me early on and I spent most of the run to the bridge trying to pass him again, unsuccessfully. He lost me after the bridge but I kept up a fast pace, until I saw him again near Hacienda. By the time we got to the gate I had caught up, and we ran in together. It is nice having someone a bit faster than me to keep me going fast. Great running weather too.

Trail Running 57:42 [4] 7.02 mi (8:13 / mi)
shoes: New Balance 875

Trail run near Tiorati circle area in HSP. Ran with L-W because my battery was dead. Normally he would be a lot faster than me, but him being nearly blind was pretty much an equalizer. Parts of the run back were a 5, while the last part of the run was on road and more of a cool-down. Conditions not as wet as last time I was here, but I still had my requisite fall of the day. Overall pretty fun.

Running 48:44 [3] 6.8 mi (7:10 / mi)
shoes: Nike Air Max Moto+ 6

Cold, rainy day. Ran Lee gate run with Ruben, then ran to Thayer gate and around BSF, eventually catching up with Keith on my way back towards the barracks. Extended it a little in the cadet area.

Trail Running 38:59 [4] **** 2.9 mi (13:27 / mi)

Klaben practice day 2: given maps with doughnuts taken out around the controls (mmm), the goal was to find an attackpoint near the point and navigate in from there. The white space forced me to follow Klaben's intent, and it worked well. This was a good practice, one of the better woods days we've had this semester.

After resting a few minutes from the practice course, I decided I didn't want to wait around and was going to run back. But following 293 was so yesterday, so I took the trails through the western training area, around Bull Hill to a steep downhill (not fun) to around Lake Popolopen to Beaver Pond (another steep downhill) to Round Pond and then to the road and on in. Running on the trails was fun except for some of the downhills; a few challenging uphills were thrown in there but the net effect was downhill.

I learned the hard way that speedbumps still exist in the dark as I came back to the barracks through a residential area. Surprised to be suddenly on the ground, I got back up and limped for a few yards before I could run normally, albeit with caution, in to the barracks. Got a nice picture of a bloody knee out of it.

After taking four days off, I have made up for some of the missed miles but am still nine miles behind where my plan had put me, with five days left until my mileage is supposed to jump again. Ultimately, as long as I am healthy by the time Philly rolls around, I will have improved, so reaching my mileage goal isn't crucial. But it would be nice.

Trail Running 21:41 [2] ** 0.97 mi (22:21 / mi)
shoes: Nike Air Max Moto+ 6

Short practice in which one team was supposed to set out a line of streamers, mapping where they put them, while another team came up from behind, collected the streamers, mapped where they were, and compared with the first team. March and I were a team, but things went awry when the other team didn't even bother to
1) Put the first streamer next to the road so we'd know where to turn off
2) Place the streamers within eyesight
3) Have any semblance of order (the streamers crossed to different sides of the road twice)

March and I tried to collect them in reverse but only found six; needless to say, the other team went back and coughed up the other four.

I hate it when what has the potential to be good training is ruined by people who don't care, not just about themselves but about the others they are screwing over.

March and I ran back from the Land Nav Day 2 site where practice had been, going down the road to 293 and following it in to 218 and West Point.
