Klaben practice day 2: given maps with doughnuts taken out around the controls (mmm), the goal was to find an attackpoint near the point and navigate in from there. The white space forced me to follow Klaben's intent, and it worked well. This was a good practice, one of the better woods days we've had this semester.

After resting a few minutes from the practice course, I decided I didn't want to wait around and was going to run back. But following 293 was so yesterday, so I took the trails through the western training area, around Bull Hill to a steep downhill (not fun) to around Lake Popolopen to Beaver Pond (another steep downhill) to Round Pond and then to the road and on in. Running on the trails was fun except for some of the downhills; a few challenging uphills were thrown in there but the net effect was downhill.
I learned the hard way that speedbumps still exist in the dark as I came back to the barracks through a residential area. Surprised to be suddenly on the ground, I got back up and limped for a few yards before I could run normally, albeit with caution, in to the barracks. Got a nice picture of a bloody knee out of it.
After taking four days off, I have made up for some of the missed miles but am still nine miles behind where my plan had put me, with five days left until my mileage is supposed to jump again. Ultimately, as long as I am healthy by the time Philly rolls around, I will have improved, so reaching my mileage goal isn't crucial. But it would be nice.
