Teering race 22:38 [5] **** 3.8 km (5:57 / km) +75m 5:25 / km
shoes: ASICS Gel Nimbus 15 grey

CSIRO, Black Mountain. Okm 3.0. Well, the termite mound comment I made yesterday came back to bite me today. I was very careful I thought, but missed it by a long way. Lost about 45 seconds and A damp otter caught me. Held on for 2 controls, so got some time back.

Sprint Canberra at Radford College. Okm 2.2. Spent most of this race very confused and running slow. There were two maps and 4 loops, plus twice back through the assembly area. A fitting end to the confusion was getting to 25 and not picking that was the last control. Didn't see the line connecting 25 to the finish until after I finished - it was very close to the line from 24. Thought it might have been on the other map on the back so turned it over a few times. Eventually worked it out by reading the descriptions.

I really liked this course though, mainly because it was all in the buildings; the setter resisted the temptation to go for the ovals or the termite mound in the bush up the hill.

Pretty careful on the wet stairs and slopes. Also kept checking the map to see what in front of me was passable - lots was but didn't really look it.

Teering race (Sprint Series) 16:47 [5] 2.99 km (5:37 / km) +43m 5:14 / km

Carrs Park, Sans Souci. Three significant mistakes, all about 20-25 seconds. First, stumbled down the steps at the start, trying not to do an ankle - wrong way. At no. 3 took a direct bearing and couldn't see it when I got to the cliff line - should have aimed off. Overshot no. 20, didn't read the map closely enough.
Over a minute down on Mike Burton by no. 3, held that gap to the end. 8th of 48.

Running 7:00 [2] 1.0 km (7:00 / km)
(injured)

Stonehenge. Burnt feet and a couple of blisters. Also had a Chinese beefcake land on and slam my injured foot into the mat. Bad preparation for the Canberra sprints.

Calculated my VO2 max at 49, which seems a bit low, and my fitness age as 37,which seems way too low at the Trondheim uni site: http://www.ntnu.edu/cerg/vo2max

MTB 52:00 [3] 10.74 km (4:50 / km) +184m 4:27 / km

Manly Dam. First time on this trail, many sections too technical for me.
