Sydney Striders monthly 10km race. Ok got up late, decided that I could still make it. Speeding all the way. Make the start line with 1min to spare.
No warm up.
First 1km good with 40min pacer, second km pick it up, spent by the end of second km. End of 3rd km 40min pacer goes by. Forced to back off pace. Go through 5km at 20:45. By 6km I have recovered and start holding a good pace. Then at 7km I go for it. I make up several places. By the finish I still had something left. Not much. Ok time was devestating as I wanted to go 40 flat. I didnt race well. My second 5km of 21:10 is a good sign. If I pace myself better next time I will get 40:00. I think im about 40:30 runner at the moment.
On another note Club races in Sydney are some of the best races. As a non member this race cost $15, members - $5. For a goood course, measured course, quality field (they recommend to run you should run 10k - 60 min as the slowest), great feed afterwards.
