Grrr. Seems the jet lag is not done with me yet, up at 5:15 today.
According to wikipedia, it's meant to take a day per time zone to fully recover, so I've got a few more to go yet.
Also, it suggests that Viagra is useful for speeding things up. Hmmm.

Winter Rally.
Feeling pretty lousy, probably the toughest day to get through - my body suddenly realised that 3-4 hour of sleep a night is not a good long term strategy. Headaches, blurry vision and lethargy all day.

However, once warmed up - it was a decent paced tempo. Letting myself down on the downhills, but it gives me more to improve on in Feb.

A few patches of ice and lumpy frozen ground, but generally good conditions - as good as you could hope Lowry can be.

Running - Trail warm up/down 14:45 intensity: (1:32 @1) + (2:02 @2) + (1:58 @3) + (8:23 @4) + (50 @5) 2.14 km (6:54 / km) +33m 6:24 / km

Short cruise on the trails to clear the head. Much warmer than last night and I'd overdressed a little. Feeling really, really good - finally slept through the night.
Stopped at the edge of Sassafras point to check the ice - looking good.
Shorter than I'd planned, I stopped looking at my watch and only noticed how short it had been when I got back. Still, easing back into it is a good thing.

Woohoo - first skate of the season *and* on a natural body of water (or at least, as natural as Cootes can be)
I was still pretty crap, look awkward and can't stop well, but only fell once. And that was while we were playing keeping off and it got a little heated.

TNT. Was not looking forward to this after my body decided to wake up at 4:30 this morning and not go back to sleep. I was secretly hoping no one would show up, but the opposite happened - Duane, Tracy, Brooke, Sean and Adrienne all showed!

Did 3 x (Pumphouse, Pumphouse+Cardiac forest loop) followed by stairs. Actually felt OK - I was not setting a blistering pace and was well below organ rearrangement, but was nice and consistent. Brooke and Sean are running well.

Sooo cold tonight, had eyelash icicles and a lump of sweat ice formed near my ear when I decloaked for the Stairs. That's the winter I remember - now lets get some snow on the ground, cause running on the lumpy frozen dirt and ice patches sucked.

Nice cruisy Cootes run.
Was destroyed by jet lag today - up at 5am, then crashed at noon. Had to rush out to beat the darkness, bur didn't quite make it.
New Inov8s are excellent.

Time to get back on track. December was pretty awful, so plan is to get a good solid base in over the next couple of months.
Since the Epic Waterfall run happened a day too early, I went out for a solid paced run of similar length. RRTB with Borers side trail extension.
Felt a bit queasy to begin with, 48 hours of plane and airport food, followed by fast food _since I arrived home to a bare fridge on a public holiday). Once my body got used to what it was doing I felt quite strong towards the end.
Trails were pretty mucky and treacherous in places - winter, get your act together already.

Started just as I was beginning to feel a jet lag induced nap kicking in, which worked quite well
