Orienteering 50:00 [3] 4.2 km (11:54 / km)

COC Middle
Favourite course and map of the whole week.
Physically the run was the best I've felt, both lungs and legs, but the worst technically, with a really amateur 8 min mistake on #3.
Had fun in the mini pack after the spectator control.

Orienteering race 28:00 [3] 3.2 km (8:45 / km)

COC Sprint
Decent run and couldn't have done any better under current conditions. Definitely gone from 'just happy to be here' to 'I need to be better' compared to last week.
Lost 1 min running to a flag that wasn't mine, but happy to relocate quickly in the flat, vague terrain.
Some fun CPs in the negative topography and rocky hillside, but some less fun ones that I guess were put in to make up distance.
Knee seems to be getting more accustomed to terrain, but still had a wonky landing late in the course which led to soreness for the rest of the race/day.

Orienteering 1:00:00 [3] 6.0 km (10:00 / km) +200m 8:34 / km

Canmore trails with Nev. Up on Horsehoe trails under Grotto. A lot of fairytale type forest.
Fell twice and knee was super pissed about it. Thankfully I bit the bullet and picked up a Theragun at the start of the week. Looks kind of inappropriate when I work on my TF(?) ligament.

Note

In case anyone was curious about my running speed, Attackpoint has listed my finish chute split as a mistake.

Orienteering 55:00 [3] 3.0 km (18:20 / km)

WCOC Middle
The walk to the start made me think I wouldn't be doing much running today and turned out to be true.
It wasn't AS bad as it looked, but it was still rough and soft enough to keep me strolling for most of it.
A little error at #3 on a short, vague leg followed by a huge one at #5 doing a 90 out of #4 and ignoring my compass until I had no choice to admit I was not in the right place. Clean but slow through the complex depressiony area.
Thought I might pick up the pace towards the end, then instantly fell on a fallen pine tree (reminisient of the 2014, shin bone revealing injury) and had to give myself a talking to that I wasn't here to compete for any sort of glory.
Sweet tourist leg to CP12 had us cresting a ridge to a panorama view of the mountains, followed by the most challenging part of the course for me, the rough, steep descent to the final control.
Enjoyed it a lot, but also very happy that I was not going to be doing 9km on the Long in the same area the next day.

Orienteering 30:00 [3] 3.0 km (10:00 / km)

WCOC Sprint
Well, that wasn't what Sprints used to feel like. You know that feeling when you're on a Long course and you feel totally spent and think 'I must be almost done', then you unfold the map and realise you're only 1/3 of the way through.
That's what happened today, except it was after about 1km.
Forest Sprint in Bragg Creek. Nice open woods, tough running for me with the soft, mossy ground and occasional deadfall.
Realised at the start I had my Southern Hemisphere compass, which made staying on line in relatively flat forest very tough, so aimed off a lot to nearby trails, but still a few embarrassing punter errors (a 90 degree error out of the start triangle being the worst).
