Running 2:17:21 [3] 20.0 mi (6:52 / mi)

My longest run for quite a long time (at least since Christmas). Feeling fairly fluid for the first 3/4s but pace (and enoyment) ebbed in the last 1/4.

Pretty wet and miserable today, but I enjoyed myself all the same. Mainly stuck to the Main Yarra Trail (a paved cycle track) with a few detours where I wasn't paying attention.

Bumped into a number of cyclists doing the Melburn Roubaix on the way home. This looks like great fun:http://fyxo.co/melburn-roobaix/

Running 1:31:40 intensity: (1:00:00 @2) + (31:40 @4) 12.06 mi (7:36 / mi)

Easy run out across Studley Park and then some Kenyan hills up and down next to Walmer Street. This is one the biggest hills within easy reach. Chugged through it solidly without ever feeling too spritely. Got a nice cheer from Clare half way through the session. Bring on the DOMS.

Running 34:20 [3] 4.35 mi (7:54 / mi)

Easy run into work; legs and head feeling a little foggy, having enjoyed a fantastic meal with Clare the night before (6 courses and 6 drinks) to celebrate her birthday.

Running 45:00 intensity: (23:05 @3) + (21:55 @4) 6.7 mi (6:43 / mi)

Thought it was time for a Nails test run (4 miles - 2 x Princes Park run at at a heart rate as close, but below, 155 beats per minute). Managed to squeeze this in over lunch. I know that I am a little tired from training (and life) because getting to an average heart rate of 155 felt harder and took longer than normal. Having said this I managed to get a pb (21:55).

I am not sure whether it is actually easier to get a faster time when I am tired?

Running 25:33 [3] 2.86 mi (8:56 / mi)

Steady run home. Left work late and sent a text 'hi hon, sorry going to be later than planned will be back about 18.45.' Managed to send this to one of the new executive directors who had joined the University instead of Clare by mistake. Oops. At least he knows I work late on occasions.....
6 AM

Running 1:30:35 [2] 11.43 mi (7:55 / mi)

Another long run to work. Again feeling pretty solid.

Note

So after much lobbying from my fans (hi Dad), and now that I am back training fairly regularly, I thought I should get back on the attackpoint horse.

I have been training pretty steadily for the last few months. Heart has been fine. With wobbles coming on weeks when I have been burning the candle at both ends; trying to run (comparatively) tough sessions whilst working long hours. Must be getting old.

7 AM

Running 1:30:00 [2] 12.0 mi (7:30 / mi)

Longer run to work along the Capital City Trail, with a diversion to take in a hill. Feeling pretty good.
5 PM

Running 22:00 [1] 2.5 mi (8:48 / mi)

Managed to leave at a reasonable hour. Easy trot.
