10 AM

Running 38:00 [1] 5.0 mi (7:36 / mi)

Run from the Lodge to the prize giving to see everyone collect their finisher tee shirts. Amazingly both Male and Female overall winners had birthdays on race day...that can't happen too often.
4 PM

Running 1:10:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (40:00 @4) 8.0 mi (8:45 / mi)

As I was in Scotland thought I would make the most of it. 10 minutes warm up then 3 x 10 minutes uphill (up Coire Dubh Mor pass) then ran hard back down the hill with a 5 minute jog recovery. Feeling strong on the ascents - descents tricky as it was wet and rocky.

Running 27:00 [1] 3.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Amazingly scenic (but early) run down to the swim transition from the accomodation. Clear skies and no winds with awesome views.

Chris had a solid swim and seemed in better nick than most on coming out of the sea loch.
3 PM

Running 3:39:00 intensity: (3:30:00 @1) + (9:00 @5) 13.0 mi (16:51 / mi)

Support for Chris at the Celtman. Each athlete needed to have a support runner as the route was over the Beinn Eighe Range.

When I picked Chris up he was in good spirits and despite saying he was struggling he was going well. After a tough ascent for maybe an hour Chris made great progress along the ridge and we were steadily passing people. Got a good line up to Ruadh-stac Mor and we were told Chris was in 12th - much higher than we realised. The fun (for me anyway) scree descent lead to a long run off down Coire Dumbh Mor.

Left Chris with instructions to f#ck his legs for the last 7 k - which is duely did.

I went and did 2 x 3 minutes uphill just to inject a bit of pace.

Chris held on to 12th which was an amazing result - just can't get my head around how he (and everyone else) managed it. Great non-stop day. Very lucky with the weather and treated to fantastic views the whole way round.

Running 30:00 [1] 3.2 mi (9:22 / mi)

Up in Scotland to support ChrisG on the Celtman. Squeezed in a light jog before our briefing.
4 PM

Running 1:55:00 [2] 11.5 mi (10:00 / mi)

Run from the accomodation at Balghy (near Torridon) - out along a loch for 5.5 miles and then back over the hills. Perfect running weather and simply spectacular views. Really enjoyed myself.

Running 30:00 [1] 3.2 mi (9:22 / mi)

Wet run to the Edge for an HR away day - yes it was exciting as you imagine it. Did not run home or do the planned session as was feeling pretty wiped and I wanted to make the most of my trip to Scotland. Also got to try some Tai-Chi which was interesting but. Strain,y good for my back.

12 PM

Running 30:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Run to see Kim (at her posh new office) and back again. Kim worked her magic and released my back off nicely. Still sore to run- which we think is bruising - but it was noticeably better on the return leg.
6 PM

Running 1:37:00 [2] 12.25 mi (7:55 / mi)

Run out to Ian's to pick up some bit and pieces ( more to be posted next week) and then out to rivelin valley. Longer than planned but enjoyed myself.

7 AM

Running 30:00 [1] 3.5 mi (8:34 / mi)

Run to work.
6 PM

Running 1:10:00 intensity: (40:00 @2) + (30:00 @4) 9.55 mi (7:20 / mi)

Run home from work and then out to Rivelin valley for 3 x 10 minutes tempo. This was a silly idea as my back was still hurting and I struggled through the session. At the end of the session my upper right hand part of my back was stiff.

Easy run. Back really sore. Hoping it is just bruised.

Run home from work. Took it easy - back still sore.
