8 AM

Running 21:00 [1] 2.2 mi (9:33 / mi)

Another pre-breckie run. Did some skips and bounds to try and get my glutes working (they certainly weren't firing on all cylinders the day before).
11 AM

Running 25:00 [1] 2.0 mi (12:30 / mi)

Easy run to the (very cosy) start.
12 PM

Orienteering race 1:55:00 [4] 9.26 mi (12:25 / mi)

Classic , I mean long distance. Really enjoyed this but again I was not very aggressive - really need someone to give me a kick up the arse. Enjoyed the terrain more than yesterday and thought the course was good. Spongey caught me up but promptly twisted his ankle so ran it all very much alone.
6 PM

Running 18:00 [1] 2.0 mi (9:00 / mi)

Pre dinner leg loosener - feeling surprisingly ok.

7 AM

Running 29:00 [1] 3.04 mi (9:32 / mi)

Easy leg spin around Pitlochry round the palace ground and surrounding wood. All quite fittingly palatial.
11 AM

Running warm up/down 38:00 [1] 4.0 mi (9:30 / mi)

Warm up and down, including a run on the bizarre practice map. Why do they bother?

Orienteering 38:00 [4] 4.0 mi (9:30 / mi)

Middle race. Messed up no.1 spectacularly and didn't really get into it after that. Felt sluggish on the hills and battered by the terrain. Enjoyed myself though.

Orienteering race 17:54 [4] 2.61 mi (6:52 / mi)

JK sprint. Fine till 4 then completely lost it on the way to 5; couldn't work out how to get to the control without crossing an uncross able feature. Worked it out after about 30 seconds - dumbass. Lost my mojo after this and cruised round - tried to push the pace but just couldn't get into 5th gear.

Running warm up/down 30:00 [1] 3.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

Easy warm up and down.

Running 1:00:00 [2] 7.8 mi (7:42 / mi)

Took a day off today so could get out at lunch time. Out to Beeley, through the wood and back. Looks like they are trying to sell different sections of the wood piecemeal. Listened to marathon talk and got a "shout out".

Note

In other news.....Scott Wilson is a legend. Forgot to mention that he turned up the other night with a new wheel for the Fiesta. We got a flat on Saturday and he said that he would see whether there were any spares at work (left from cars they chop up as part of training). Wasn't expecting him to turn up the next day (with some shiny hub caps too!).
7 AM

Running 49:05 [2] 6.32 mi (7:46 / mi)

Early morning run in the blizzard up Rivelin. Dressed in my best winter gear it was not too bad on the way out but bitter on the way back into the wind. Low light was getting slushed head to toe by a passing car by the post box.
6 PM

Running 1:07:00 intensity: (27:00 @2) + (40:00 @4) 9.6 mi (6:59 / mi)

Late night finish from work (but I am off tomorrow so it was worth it). Tired when I got home to dump my bag. Luckily coach Clare was home to give me a pep talk - decided on a sort of fartlek session up Loxley valley. Did 10 x 45:15, then 4 x 90:30, then a full out sprint up the hill from the bottom of loxley valley, a jog to the dam and then 1 x 4.55 mile, jog back, sprint down hill, 4 x 60:20 and then a tempo effort up the hill to the (ex) Robin Hood pub.

Running 45:00 [2] 5.5 mi (8:11 / mi)

Run to work. Bumped into a work colleague who is doing the Marathon des Sables race. He was on his way to be interviewed by Toby Foster for Radio Sheffield. They are going to have a blast.
8 PM

Running 49:00 [3] 7.95 mi (6:10 / mi)

Late home from work. Decided to do a fastish run up to Beeley and back (the tarmac is bedding down nicely).

7 AM

Running 1:03:00 [2] 9.0 mi (7:00 / mi)

Early morning run with Dr T. Feeling not too bad considering yesterday's effort. Chilly this morning, but the flask was pretty busy still.
