Long run out to Wharncliffe. Bumped into John Heneghan just as I was crossing into Greno and we ran together for two hours which was great. He gave me the low down on the three peaks and showed me some new paths that I had not seen before. The fact that they had retarmacced the road into Beeley was a welcome treat as I was properly tired for the last 20 minutes. Lovely run.
Running warm up/down 1:15:00 [1] 10.0 mi (7:30 / mi)
Short warm up (as cutting it a bit fine as the result of a slight detour on the way to the race) and then a longer warm down with Scott and Tom. Surprised how good legs felt on warm up as woke up feely really groggy.

Leg 1 at road relays. Determined to try and enjoy it today. Body felt good (neither legs or lungs holding me up) and got pulled along racing in a small group. Pleased that I did it not got overtaken lightly and tried to run a bit more aggressively a la Mike and Paul in countering any changes in pace. Kinda worked. Pleased with effort.

Long run after work. Ran home, then along through Beeley to the transpennine trail. Stepped it up every 5 miles, with the idea being to hit "marathon pace" for the last 10 miles. Was some way off marathon pace but happy with the effort I was putting in.
Really good to get stuck into a hard session and felt a bit spacey on the last 2 easy miles back (which coincided with a) beth orton & the Chemical brothers - where do I begin on my iPod which was good and b) hallam v uni football finishing at Hillsborough which resulted in loads of drunk students on the streets which was bad.
