11 AM

Running 2:02:00 [2] 23.0 km (5:18 / km)

Long run with Neil, OJ, Pete and Marcus. Gorgeously clear and deceptively mild. Was proper tired today, so was struggling by the end but it was a good way to end the week.

Were going to eat at Fox House, but once again they made it was clear that a bunch of runners/walkers were not very welcome.

8 AM

Running 28:55 [2] 3.75 mi (7:43 / mi)

Run to Endcliffe picking up OJ on the way. Neither of asked seemed too excited at the prospect of thrashing ourselves.
9 AM

Running 16:10 [5] 3.13 mi (5:10 / mi)

Park run. The aim was to really hurt myself (inspired by Chris Chataway's interview on marathon talk) and if I am honest this was only partially achieved. Got to a point where I just could not run any faster and then lost a bit of concentration by mentally arguing with myself about whether this was really the case "surely if you were doing 200m reps you could run faster" was one convincing argument that part of my brain produced. Either way my legs weren't having any of it.

Running 31:30 [2] 4.0 mi (7:53 / mi)

Warm down with with Mike and OJ up porter valley. Mike kindly kept me company on the way back down.

Nice breckie at Jonty's to finish with.
4 PM

Running 1:11:27 [2] 9.51 mi (7:31 / mi)

Late afternoon run from East Markham where we were staying to meet my Dad to celebrate our respective birthdays.

Overcooked the route by 100% - I was making it up as I went along and got confused by the local roads. Doh. Proper snowing by the time I finished and I was pretty tired (but had worked up an appetite).

Running 1:20:00 [2] 11.2 mi (7:09 / mi)

Struggled to get going. Properly icy cold this morning. Rewarded with gorgeous views around Damflask.

Thursday Feb 2, 2012 #

6 AM

Running 39:00 [2] 5.5 mi (7:05 / mi)

Run out to Beeley and then back home. Cold.
6 PM

Running 55:00 [3] 8.5 mi (6:28 / mi)

Late day at work again. Longer run home from work, tried to keep the pace steady. Had to make a pit stop at the bus depot - surprisingly clean toilets.

7 PM

Running 58:00 [3] 10.5 mi (5:31 / mi)

In London all day so was a bit tired when I started. Plan was to do 10 miles at just under 6 minute mile pace which I managed. It was comfortably tough.

ps - where has January gone?

Tuesday Jan 31, 2012 #

7 AM

Running 23:00 [1] 3.2 mi (7:11 / mi)

Run to work.
6 PM

Running 38:00 [2] 5.2 mi (7:18 / mi)

Feeling as flat as a badger today so gave track a miss. Keith's email warning of a post Northerns slump summed it up perfectly.
