Easy 60 minutes, the Brown course at Middleton Park and then a very short warm down.
Took it very steady for the first hour - listening to a mix of marathon talk (inspiring interview with Liz Yelling) and Mayo and Kermode's film review. There were loads of footpaths but the terrain was not pretty - muddy wastelands with a golf course through the centre.
I was very rusty in terms of the orienteering. Didn't make any big mistakes but made loads of hesitations. I was not killing myself round the course but made a concious effort to run faster than the first hour and tried to wind it up a bit by the end.
Very easy leg loosener. Stopped to do some stretches and threw in a few drills; basically trying to convince myself that I wanted to race.

Yorkshire Cross Country. A windy 5 lap course with lots of twists and turns. Set off steady, but was surprised at how quickly the field came back to me - I think that the fact that the first part was all up a hill and I was sheltered from the wind helped. Had a bit of a ding dong with Andy T for a couple of laps, but he proved stronger and pulled away on the 4th and 5th.
Was satisfied with 15th based on my inconsistent build up and feel that there is more in the tank.
A great turn out from team HH and we did well against a pretty strong Leeds team to get the team silver. Also great to see both Brownlee brothers out - a class apart.
Run down to Hallamshire - went to club house then remembered the change in venue.
The session was 3 x the 800m circuit. Felt fine on first one, but chest got really tight half way through the second; so bad that I had to stop. Collected myself for the last lap but even though I was holding back I was still struggling for breath - weird. I have had this a few times before (but didn't really want to log it) and tend to get it when I am doing something on the aerobic / anaerobic threshold. As soon as I step the pace back I am fine - so jogging home was no problem.
Chest was tight for about 15 minutes after I got home (especially on left side). Will get to the doctors to check it out.

Slow dawdle to work. Wind in my face the whole way.
Sociable run with Mike. He picked me up at my house and we worked our way up to Loxley Common then down to the valley, up and over through Stannington and then up Coppice track. I dropped Mike off at home and then ran over Parkwood Springs. Great to not be running in the rain.
Yoga DVD with Clare. I felt obliged to join in as it was Clare's christmas present.
