Was planning on doing track but to be honest I was too lazy and distracted myself at work. The devil on my shoulder (who had been taking a break too), appeared and persuaded me to do a session. I did a 6 mile tempo along rivelin valley road in 33:38. Felt pretty good - but to put it in perspective I did 14 miles on this route at a similar pace (33:10 was my split at 5:30 pace) as part of my marathon training in the spring. Good to have got the session done . I am going to be sore tomorrow.
Note
So I have had 2 weeks off training. This is the longest I have gone without running for about 15 or 16 years. And to be honest it was a doddle. I really thought I would struggle and get moody (Clare hid all the crockery) but if anything I am feel more relaxed than I have been for ages.
It has been a really positive thing to have done but I am happy to get back into training again. My plan is going to be to take it easy till christmas and then (having decided what I am going to do with myself) start ramping up the training.
First run back after the break with Dr Thake. Legs felt fresh but bum was a bit sore from the bike ride. Good to catch up and hear about Andy's victory in the eerie mist the day before at the SYXC.
