Orienteering 2:00:00 intensity: (1:00:00 @2) + (1:00:00 @3) 12.0 mi (10:00 / mi)

As part of my last minute cramming for Finland decided to do some orienteering. Rifled through our (newly reorganised) map collections box and picked out a few control picks to do in Burbage. Did one on the moor by Lady Cannings and two in Burbage mines (one on the standard map and one on Magic's). Enjoyed myself but the undergrowth made it tough going. Once I finished I did about 45 minutes running around Burbage - mainly in terrain.

Running 1:35:00 intensity: (25:00 @2) + (1:10:00 @4) 10.0 mi (9:30 / mi)

Tough hill session with Pete. Started from the bottom of the field for the Edale fell race then 3 x all the way up to the top path (CP 3 on the fell race - 1.1 miles up with 300m climb) and back down again with 5 minutes recovery. Don't have times as my Garmin watch strap has fatally snapped.

Hill is pretty relentless, but varied enough to distract you from the pain. Still need to improve on my downhill running as was pansying about on the rocks (but pretty good when it was clean).

Glad Pete was doing the session too as I don't think I would have completed it without him.

Running 1:20:00 [2] 9.5 mi (8:25 / mi)

Plod up to Damflask and back. Heading up the hill to Stannington on the way home past the Robin Hood (which is going to close in August - boo).
12 PM

Running drills 40:00 [2] 2.0 mi (20:00 / mi)

Working from home so nipped over to the Social Club for some drills. Did Kelly proud with a tough session including some Lydiard bounding stuff up the hills.

Note
(rest day)

Woke up feeling a bit battered and generally run down. VHR was way down too so decide to take a rest day. Bit disappointed as was looking forward to the race at grindleford tonight. My own fault for starting to think that I was getting fit yesterday...

Run from work up Porter valley, to Goodwin and then home.

Fun orienteering session with Kris. 3 x sprint courses outside and 2 x sprint courses in an indoor maze (impressively developed out of dumbbells).

Running 35:19 [2] 4.19 mi (8:26 / mi) +45m 8:09 / mi

Run home with Pete. Dragging my feet.

Running 19:45 [2] 2.66 mi (7:25 / mi) +31m 7:10 / mi

Run to track.

Running 33:11 [5] 4.7 mi (7:04 / mi) +1m 7:03 / mi

Was weirdly looking forward to track this week. The last time I ran here my calf went so it was about 3 months since I last took to the tartan. Session was 3 x 1 mile with 3 minutes recovery and then 4 x 400m with 100m jog recovery. First mile felt a long way and I nicely blooded my lungs. Held it together for the rest of the session. Was not too far off 5k pace - 4.52, 4.48, 4.52 and laps in around 69 (watch would not lap properly). Lonely session with just me and Pete duking it out.

Running 20:00 [1] 2.5 mi (8:00 / mi)

Run from work to Bole hill and then home.

Running drills 30:00 [1] 0.5 mi (59:59 / mi)

Drills with a select group of OJ, Clare and Chris which was led by KC. Good session - I am glad that Kelly could share our pain so took it easier on us tonight. Don't think I could make it as a sprinter.
